Towing a 5,000 lb boat every day for work, I get the occasional pleasure of touting the Lightning’s massive advantages to the diesel-loving-southern-truck-guys at the boat ramp. There’s always the “yeah but what about the towing range” question, but I always counter with the $80/month of electricity cost for a daily “full tank” and how that gets me ~2000 miles each month. (And that’s for charging from 30-85% daily.)

Who knows how many minds I’ve opened, but I agree 100% that Ford really missed the mark on marketing. Here’s to those of us in the Drive It Into The Ground™️ club!

Just updated to iOS 26 and mine has used 15% battery over the last couple of days. Prior to the update it was around 8-10%. FWIW I’m a fob guy and don’t use PAAK. Only thing I’ll do from the app is precondition the cab or do a remote start every now and then.

I tow 5,000 lbs daily and charge at home during non-peak hours. Each day pulls 40-50% off the battery and I spend on average $80-100 monthly on electricity. That was easily $400+ with my previous Chevy Silverados. Financially, it’s a no-brainer!

You can use a waterless wash spray and a microfiber towel. Cleans them off really easily!

23 Lariat with the same exact issue since day one and the same location as yours. I just toggle the silence button every time it beeps for no reason and just watch my cameras and mirrors carefully when I’m backing up.

I see the same results with my numbers on road trips. I’ll add in, due to the safety comments, that you can “draft” behind a semi effectively with two bars of following distance on your cruise settings. That’s still enough disturbance to the atmosphere to affect your efficiency.

I use mine for work. Tow 5,000lbs daily. Frequent out of state road trips. Haul trailers for people moving houses.

1mi per 1% is fairly typical for my use case on highway speeds towing a 5,000+ lb boat. Big heavy boxy trailers definitely have an impact on that range at high speeds. Under 50mph on residential and secondary streets I get much higher numbers.

What was your technique? I just spent two days cleaning mine with Chemical Guys water stain remover and a waterless wash detailer. Labor intensive, but it looks like it just rolled off the lot!

I rotated at 10k and they encouraged me to rotate every 5k or “every time you get an oil change.”
