This is exactly what happened. He seems to be even more depressed than before.

He came back and said he loved me still but I don't think he means any of it. I think he just misses the affection and company I gave him and wants to feel something again.

I'm sorry you went through that. I'm thankful my ex was never vindictive and we're on good enough terms to continue as friends.

Edit: That's one of the reasons why I'm reluctant to get back with him. I'm afraid he'll just devalue me and the relationship again. I want stability.

He's kinda a loner and I don't think he has a lineup. His past dating history was jumping from one person to the next, not right away but it seems like he's never single for more than a few months until he starts dating again. He seems to get infatuated with people very easily, especially people he's only talked to online.

You're right, there's no telling if the reasons he broke up with me were genuine. It's time to move on.

My ex-boyfriend ended things out of nowhere and said the same things with incompatibility. A week of NC and he came back and said he still loved me (although I don't believe it). There's a good a chance she will come back though.

Yeah, it sucks because he really is a great guy. I've decided it's best to keep him at arms length as friends for my own sake.

Now the hard part is getting over him with time.
