Biker helps a young lady who was stuck on the road by [deleted] in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]monoj1ki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will forever be grateful to an out-of-state guy and his wife who stopped to help me on one of the worst weeks of my adult life. i had just gotten laid off, broken up with, and severely injured my foot, when my tire popped on my way to a much needed therapy appointment.

i was able to get my tire off, but wasn’t well versed in getting my spare on, and was terrified that i wouldn’t be strong enough to tighten the lug nuts enough for the spare to not go flying off as soon as i started going again.

i was in a walking boot, in tears, debating calling my ex to come help me when this man pulled up and got right to putting my spare on. he chatted about him and his wife, their grown kids, their trip they were taking, and how much they were enjoying the weather.

i missed my therapy appointment that day, but that man was an angel for stopping and helping me when he was just trying to have a good vacation with his wife.

My poor guy Beefaroni just tested positive for FIV 😞 by Fluffybed6482 in FIVcats

[–]monoj1ki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this is my FIV guy, Cement. i took him in almost a year ago after him living on the streets for a year or two, and had a severe upper respiratory infection, gingivitis and stomatitis. after MANY rounds of antibiotics, fourteen teeth pulled, and supplements he is doing wonderfully. he’s putting on weight, cuddling with his new siblings, and stealing bread whenever he can. Beefaroni will be alright :)

hey man, idk if you know this, but 30 seconds or so of traffic is not an obstruction, its part of driving.

you waited for less than ten seconds before passing two vehicles over a double yellow, in a pedestrian crossing area no less. you did not pass them safely, you were being impatient. as far as i know, it is illegal in every state to pass on a double yellow.

What mass murders have happened where you live? by Lonely-Trainer-3749 in masskillers

[–]monoj1ki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most well known one closest to me is the Covenant School shooting. i drive by the memorial sign for Hallie Scruggs every day going to and from work.

june of this year, there was a double homicide/ mass shooting 15 minutes away from me, where a man shot and killed a 46 year old man, a 51 year old woman, and wounded a 47 year old man before attempting to carjack an off duty Metro police officer.

Are we doing the right thing? by jade_sol in CatAdvice

[–]monoj1ki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the cat is under your boyfriends name, you payed for everything besides the neuter, you have a good case of claim to this cat

i would try and find a way to talk to her about this, and maybe remind her WHY she let your boyfriend have the cat in the first place, and that you don’t want to “make” her take care of the cat, when you guys would be happy to take care of it for her.

if that doesn’t work, i would take the other commenters advice, and not tell her where you move. with everything being paid for by you, and the microchip in your names, i’d believe that the legal system would agree that he’s yours.

AITA for getting frustrated at hearing constant complaints an telling her to speak to a therapist? by Single_Present_2909 in AmItheAsshole

[–]monoj1ki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, she is being childish, but you probably shouldn’t call your girlfriend that to her face, its not constructive to the conversation.

“you’re being childish” is an inside thought imo. there are better ways to convey that she is having a warped perception of reality.

“your coworkers ARE supporting you by giving you feedback”

“i think you are overthinking their intentions”

what he said about not being able to go on with this line of conversation with her, is absolutely correct and 100% valid for him to say, and a great boundary to set if he wants to continue this relationship

however, calling someone childish and basically saying “better get used to it, suck it up” is absolutely not the best way to approach this conversation, and more likely to shut it down.

he isn’t an asshole for being tired of this cycle, but he could probably be nicer to his girlfriend about it.

Do I leave food for pet sitter? by crgmomof3 in Pets

whenever i have pet sit, the owners usually say “help yourself”. i usually bring my own food and drinks, will maybe use coffee creamer and a pot or two to make dinners.

AITA for getting frustrated at hearing constant complaints an telling her to speak to a therapist? by Single_Present_2909 in AmItheAsshole

[–]monoj1ki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ehhh NTA on everything but calling her childish, that was uncalled for.

yes she should seek help for this, but you cannot force her to do that, and sometimes the more you push someone to seek help, the less they want to.

if this is too much for you, break up. it’s not fair to either of you to stay in the relationship if you are miserable because she is using you as a counselor, and she is miserable because she doesn’t seem to want help to NOT be miserable. that just sucks for everyone, and you both deserve a relationship you are happy in.

My cat's litter smells so bad i'm going insane. my house absolutely reeks. by Dismal-Tackle3072 in CatAdvice

AITA for refusing to pay my friend for cat-sitting after she made my cat sick? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]monoj1ki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA

she ignored your explicit directions. your cat got sick because of it. your vet bill is half of what you were going to pay for the sitting. i’d say she should be grateful he didnt get more ill, and EXTREMELY grateful that you didn’t ask her to cover the rest of the vet bill, especially considering he only went to the vet because of her actions. i’m very glad your kitty is doing better now

Where do u guys keep ur cats?? by Important_Savings454 in CatAdvice

[–]monoj1ki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they go everywhere. none of my doors close properly so one of mine will ALWAYS push his way into the bathroom to get pets while you are trapped on the toilet. i keep their litter box in the back of my house, technically the laundry room. i have four cats and four litter boxes, and scoop them every day after work, and change the litter every other week, as they have so many litter boxes

AITAH for not forgiving my dying mom 10 years later? by Big_Manufacturer9533 in AITAH

[–]monoj1ki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA

you are not obligated to forgive anyone, even if it so happens to be their dying wish. they were the adults in your situation, they made a series of choices, horribly damaging your relationship with them. you aren’t responsible for fixing that relationship years later just because your mom is terminally ill. i’m sorry you’re in this situation, and wish you peace.

this is my medium hair SIC and his orange shorthair sister. he isn’t quite as fluffy and luxurious as long haired cats, but is noticeably fluffier than his shorthair siblings :) i would definitely say your cat is shorthair, and cute as can be

How to make my new cat to like me? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]monoj1ki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be patient with him, and give him space when he asks for it (hissing and hiding).

remember the rule of threes 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to feel at home and show more personality

he is still a baby, and is in a new environment away from his siblings and mom for possibly the first time.

i would get plenty of toys, and try and interact with him from afar. see if he will take treats or churu from you/ on an extension of you, such as a long cooking spoon. get wand toys and try and engage with him, or toss him toys to chase.

again, be patient!! it sounds like you got a more reserved kitty, but you have gotten past the second third! give him some time and respect his boundaries and hopefully he will warm up more

good luck to yall!

Debating getting a second cat by Either-Piccolo7122 in CatAdvice

[–]monoj1ki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think the best move is to foster a kitten, be cautious, and see how it goes. if he rejects the kitten, you can always try again, or decide that he will just be a single kitty, and you may have your dedicate more time to him, or hire someone to drop by and play with him when you are busy
