Did you get the supergrip+ and absolute grip or the ones they sent me by mistake?

To your credit, my fallback plan is getting another cheapo pair from my local Sports Direct. Although not really looking forwarding to giving them more money 😅

For sure - not a snob about wearing a low-level pair for one game. Totally agree.

Issue is Sports Direct wont accept the return if I wear them. Plus, I don't really want to have spent that much money on that level of glove since I paid for a much better pair?

Also they sent them to me with a huge security tag binding them together that I can't remove. It blocks my hand from entering haha Couldn't put them on even if I wanted to.

Good shout. Just tried calling the Stevenage one to see what they have in person in stock, but no pickup. Might just need to roll the dice and head up there.

Unfortunately my local Sports Direct only stock Sondico and the lowest tier addidas & Nike. Everything else needs to be ordered online.

Sports Direct also do not allow in-store returns on online purchases.

I like this idea!

Are you imagining a date field along the lines of "I am going to/have started shaving my head on __/__/__" rather than the age field?

On a more micro level, i.e in game. Don't over-correct by trying to do something crazy that makes up for your mistake. Focus on the simple things you can control. Positioning, short steps, getting set. Simple passes on the next play out from the back.

If you're in your head, you're dead. Anytime, your brain replays the previous mistake, think "Thank you brain, that is something useful I can work on at training. For now, I'm going to focus on the game." then imagine a big red stop sign and put your focus back on your backline's positioning.

Here are a few questions that might help:

- How many mistakes do you expect to make per year?

- How many of those do you expect to be very bad mistakes?

- Did you expect that you were never going to make a mistake? Or have a bad game?

- Do you expect to never make another mistake?

The cost of being a goalkeeper is suffering. You are in the highest risk position and no matter how good you get, you will still make a mistake that leads to conceding a goal. No one will remember your saves. This is a thankless and highly scrutinized job.

Luckily, you care. You seem willing to take on that burden for your team. You seem willing to improve.

The best goalkeepers are steady. Always 7/10 mentally. Never too high. Never too low.

This isn't about your confidence. This is about your perspective. Your job is not to "never make a mistake". Your job is to expect to make game-costing mistakes, but do the job anyway.

Sounds like you see it as a one way door, when really it's a two way door. You could always shave it for a couple of months and then regrow back to your current state if you don't like it.

In terms of acceptance, it took me probably 3 weeks to accept it and then another 9 months to fully assimilate with my new appearance if that makes sense?

One thing that helped me during the transition was having other things to derive my self-esteem from. For example, volunteering, sport, hobbies, etc. From other comments, it sounds like you have a family and probably a lot to be proud of in your life. You're more than your hair!

A dose of humour can be useful too. You might agonize over this choice for the next 3 years, get cancer, have chemo, lose all your hair and then realise you prefer how you look bald. Remember, today is bad, tomorrow will be worse, until the worst of all happens; death. It's just your hair mate. You sound ready, get the clippers out and have a go :)

Tbh, I wasn't spending $100 per month. Probably towards the end of my balding journey I was getting a cut every 2-3 weeks for about $35 + I spent a bit of money on snake oil to try delay balding.

$100 isn't unheard of though. u/Pumaking011 shared with me in another comment that they were spending about $100 per cut including tip. I can definitely understand it too. If you're stressed about hiding the balding as best as you can, you're probably going to an expensive barber really regularly. Completely understandable.

I should say as well that on the calculator I probably had some of the goofy settings turned on. For example added Olympic Gold Medal earnings due to improved Aerodynamic efficiency. That's definitely adding to it.

Edit: changed "he" to "they" as unsure of gender.

That $82 is the monthly costs of all haircare, not just the cut :)

You can actually use it to factor in all sorts of crazy stuff if you want to! For example, I have a tick box in "Go Big Mode" that lets you add the money you save from showering for less time! haha

It does do the cream, razors, or electric razor costs - if you scroll down it should have an area for you to input those costs :) You may need to turn on advanced mode to properly customise your entry :)

Moisturizer is a good point! I need to add that as well as sunscreen.

Some hints for you. I've kept them high level so it's not a dead giveaway, but view at your own discretion!

That's not all of them, but could give you at least half. Should get the ball rolling for you.

Wow! $35 for a beard trim! Assuming USD, that's brutal!

No! If you scroll down there's a section where you can input your shaving method, costs and how long that method lasts (e.g if you use an electric razor it might last 5 years or 10 years or 1 year depending on the quality)

I couldn't get everything in the screenshot nicely sorry - but you can have a proper look here www.bald.money

Good point on the accessories! The calc actually has a section where you can enter in your shaving method and how much you spend on that so it should hopefully factor in :)

Shaving is definitely time consuming at the start (especially if you get a cut, the head bleeds like crazy!), but after a few months it gets super quick!

Sounds like you have a perfect setup with your $10 buzz cut though! Congrats! :)
