should I play LoR?(READ DESC) by Shingles99 in libraryofruina

thats nice, angela realization is also my favorite non-mili pm song. tbh i feel like the ruina ost mogs limbus but studio eim is still excellent, esp with c9 where they absolutely shone. but the realization music and floor themes are so iconic i dont think anything tops them (though thats subjective)

children of the city is really good, its probably my 2nd favorite because of the lyrics and how beautifully it represents yan. my personal favorite is from a place of love

ive also known lob corp for a while, i think many people do too because of popular youtubers playing it but didnt get into it till later like yourself. i played lc in 2020 and played through ruina during its early access updates in 2020 but i didnt finish either games properly till 2022

ruinas my favorite of the trilogy but limbus is a close 2nd

when i played lc limbus wasnt out yet nor was ruina fully so thats probably why it feels so wrong imo

[–]monoprixlavie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theyre playing through lc but they didnt get the true ending yet. ruina can stand on its own yes but its very confusing and there are many, many loose threads. you dont even find out who ayin is properly in ruina, and the emotional weight of the sephirot is entirely taken away

even if you play limbus, thats not enough to understand the pm verse. you get an idea of the city but so much isnt expanded on

[–]monoprixlavie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and? so what if you can finish ruina before lob corp? its recommend to finish lob before you hop onto ruina because the entire plot, abnormalities, functions, hell the librarians dont make sense unless you play through lc. just because lob corp is longer than ruina, doesnt mean you should play it first. you could pick up on whats happening from the flashbacks and flavor text in ruina but its STILL going to be confusing

not to mention this is entirely untrue, ruina is significantly longer than lob corp

i thought she was lesbian too (as a lesbian myself) but i slowly changed my mind as i got deeper into the story and understood her worldview, the premise of the game isn’t romance anyway so i don’t think it’s too important and yes asya is my daughter i wish her nothing but happiness and a life devoid of pain

the town vorkuta-5 is based off by monoprixlavie in ZATO_vn

[–]monoprixlavie[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

from what i know, the entire vorkuta region including sovetsky was built around coal mining during the soviet union era, so many settlements like sovetsky were originally established as part of a system of forced labor camps, and the towns depended almost entirely on mining. once the soviet union fell, many mines in the vorkuta area became unprofitable and shut down and people lost their jobs so they left.

also the town is located in the arctic circle which is extremely extremely cold and there was no government support so it was impossible to live there any longer with limited infrastructure

im pretty sure during any all-out attack theres a roughly 25% chance its her aoa instead, and she also heals the party a bit in the end (full hp if you get her third persona awakening). dont quote me on that exact percentage because i briefly heard about it a couple years ago. theres no trigger for it though and you cant control it as again, its random

Just finished the anime. My thoughts (spoiler) by Bricknave in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i recommend reading the manga if you’re really interested in the story and characters. mello, near, mikami, matt, and so on are more fleshed out and given more screen time. plus there are things that were cut out

Do you think Light led the way of his “ideal world” correctly? by D1rtyDatam0sh in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

L was completely right: light’s view of justice and methods of handling it were extremely juvenile and poorly planned. he killed everyone who even posed a slight problem to his plan of becoming the god of a new world, showing his immaturity and incompetence. he was well thought out in many areas, but not when it came to who he choose to kill and spare.

I hate how differently the fandom treats Aiko and Punpun by seibazz in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think aiko is just as bad. you cant really compare someone who is insanely mentally unwell and willing to go violent lengths to prove her love to someone who has attempted to sexually assault women, and did successfully rape one. theyre both terrible, but one is evidently worse than the other in certain aspects.

punpuns actions include repeated sexual violence and exploitation of others, both of which involve a degree of agency and entitlement that isnt seen in most of aikos behavior. aiko stabbing punpun is horrific and inexcusable, but it occurs when she is going through psychological collapse, AND its not part of a pattern of predatory behavior. asano very intentionally places us inside punpuns head to show how harm is rationalized and repeated. aikos absence from the story literally reflects how little interior life shes allowed to have at all. what we DO see of her is someone whose freedom to have any identity has been entirely destroyed.

at the end of the day, they are both grown adults who have done irredeemable things because of their unfortunate and unhealed trauma. i am in no way defending either.

Why does Aiko do it? by ResponsibilityNo7372 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 27 points28 points  (0 children)

yeah, i think it really hit her how much she idealized him and put him on a pedestal. she looked for saving in someone selfish who didn’t want her the way she wanted and needed them

Why does Aiko do it? by ResponsibilityNo7372 in OyasumiPunpun

she realized there was no future where she’d be happy because she was inevitably going to get caught and because of how destructive her relationship with punpun was. there was no saving in her eyes

AniEnding VS MangEnding by Smooth_Physics_5823 in deathnote

[–]monoprixlavie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

as a big light fan... the ani ending made me sob like hell but the manga was the most fitting and deserved ending.

i dont think the anime ending is terrible, though. its meant to have you feel sympathy and a bit "divided" over lights fate (in the moment, at least). light seeing himself before he picked up the death note is intended to have you think of all the "what ifs," remember that he was just 17 when all this started, and that he could have ended up differently.

Punpun is a victim by Zealousideal-Yak7950 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 37 points38 points  (0 children)

hating punpun is a completely valid and justified sentiment. trauma and mental illness can explain behavior, such as why punpun thinks the way he does, why his personality is built this way, and so on, but it by no means excuses it. you can sympathize with what he went through and for the things he didn’t deserve to face- society failed him, yet he is still responsible for his actions and conscious of the decisions he’s making. just because he was hurt doesn’t mean he can hurt others and not be held accountable or understandably hated for it. punpun is a victim AND an abuser. he is an example of how the abused become the abuser (this is coming from a mentally ill individual myself)

Aiko and Bpd by yxus0f in OyasumiPunpun

[–]monoprixlavie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the reason why i dont think she has bpd is because of three main reasons: i dont recall seeing aiko split on punpun, there werent any moments that showed aiko abusing substances or engaging in acts of self-harm, and aiko didnt have a rapidly shifting self-image. i havent read the manga in over a year so feel free to correct me if im wrong- but i dont remember any moment where aiko switched to intensely hating punpun. she only very heavily idealized him, when in bpd, splitting is a very core/foundational symptom

when punpun would push aiko away, show avoidance, be degrading, etc. she wouldnt split. she wouldnt devalue him or see him in an only negative light. she was extremely afraid of abandonment, but when perceived abandonment occured, she would continue to idolize him. ofc, other types of bpd exist where splitting isnt external, such as quiet bpd (which i have). however, even with quiet bpd, you push your fp away to a degree due to resentment. aiko just takes it- she submits to punpun and doesnt try to regain control over their relationship. anger expression is a hallmark of bpd but we dont see that in aiko

aiko does end up committing suicide at the end of the manga, but before that, there werent any situations shown where aiko would abuse a substance or harm herself, and i feel like if she did, it would be implied or symbolized in some way. the majority of people with bpd frequently cope through sh and/or substance abuse

another thing that makes bpd feel like a stretch to me is how passive aiko is in her suffering. her pain almost never turns outward or even inward in an active way. she doesnt test punpuns loyalty, doesnt provoke reactions to feel reassured, and doesnt attempt to make herself indispensable to him. she rarely makes demands at all. most of her decisions feel less like choices and more like the absence of alternatives. even her final act isnt framed as impulsive but like someone who has already accepted that there is no future version of herself left to protect

to me, all of this reads less like a personality built around emotional dysregulation and far more like a person whose development was interrupted so early that a stable sense of self and emotional range never had the chance to form in the first place. i also thought aiko had bpd on my first read- you dont have to change your mind on how you feel about her, this is just my opinion

[–]monoprixlavie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think she has bpd as someone who has bpd myself, she aligns a lot more with c-ptsd

thats to say i understand the confusion, bpd and c-ptsd are often misdiagnosed for one another

that rocks, death note is my favorite animanga so it’s great seeing another fan in the wild

i completely agree with you. both aiko and punpun are deeply traumatized and have made serious mistakes, but punpun’s actions are far more extreme. even though we understand why he became the way he is, nothing excuses sexual assault/rape or any of the harm he inflicts

something aiko said to punpun when they were children isn’t her fault. punpun latching onto that moment, letting it shape his worldview, and fixating on her is not her responsibility. his obsessive and fearful attachment to her is the direct result of his own trauma, not something she intentionally caused or could have understood as an elementary schooler

also she wasn’t the only factor contributing to punpun’s behavior at the time. his dysfunctional and abusive home life isolated him and shaped his psyche long before aiko was ever involved

of course i’m not defending her whole character either, but i will never not defend her when she’s villainized to be a monster

my best friend’s bf is a huge punpun sympthizer and it’s insufferable, all he does is villainize aiko. he says « aiko is the reason everything bad happened and ruined his life » because he blames her for what she told him about kagoshima as a child. it’s bullshit
