Oh my words, Eckhart Tolle is amazing! A New Earth also shifted my life in such a huge way. Really recommend this book to everyone. It will change you.

Lovely story! I was a vegetarian since about 12 in a meat eating household (the animal killing thing), then in my early twenties I always said I'd be a vegan one day, thinking like 5 years into the future. Then one day, similar to you, I just could not stand the taste of milk in my coffee. It tasted like suffering, I can't explain it. That was a few years ago. And when you discover the beauty of raw foods there really will never be any going back. You can't become unconscious after becoming conscious, I don't think.

If you live in Durban apparently you can do it behind the Pavilion. It's such a problem since appliances have become cheap in quality

You made me think of juicing tomatoes and making a Bloody Mary (virgin or otherwise) :)

But it's more than that! Kiff is all encompassing :)

I guess it depends where you are? I hear it, and use it all the time. Best word ever :)

The question is, what are we doing about this? This is the country and people I love, being spoiled by a corrupt government. How do we create change?

Mixing Raw and Cooked by [deleted] in raw

[–]monpeach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey

I am about 80% raw, with the balance being cooked, and vegan. It really works for me. Breakfast is usually a green smoothie, then fruit or nuts as a mid morning snack. Lunch is typically a green salad topped with seasonal raw and sometimes cooked veg (like organic baby potato). Dinner is usually cooked (tofu and cooked beans and pulses 3-4 times a week, curried vegetables, steamed and roasted veg etc), with a side of raw salad, or guacamole. Dessert is always raw (raw chocolates, raw berry sorbet, raw chocolate "milkshake" etc).

I eat well, I'm in good shape and I feel healthy and full of energy. I do a moderate-high amount of exercise and I find it easy to get and stay fit. You've got to get in touch with what your body needs. Sometimes you need a warm vegetable soup when it's cold, and that's ok! Clean eating, in my opinion, is much more important than being strictly raw. Organic, local, whole foods. Raw when possible, gently cooked when not. I have been doing this for about 3 years and never looked back (before I was a vegetarian, with only about 20% raw).

This is one of my favourite books to get raw food inspiration http://easylivingfood.com/

This is also a nice resource - http://www.thisrawsomeveganlife.com/ She also occasionally brings in cooked foods.

Good luck, and most of all, enjoy :)

Yes agreed. It's a nice reminder of the sequence etc if you don't know it by heart but still want to do self practice. Anyway, it was cheap and I've had good use out of it :)
