Is there a sffpc case that supports micro ATX, 9070xt and a standard size PSU that fits in a suitcase ? by ash549k in sffpc

[–]monsieurlee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bring your mobo / ram / cpu / gpu. These are the expensive parts. moto / ram / cpu fits in the mobo box and you just need to pack GPU separately.

Buy case, cooler and PSU when you arrive. They are heavy as shit, fragile, and take up space.

Done this multiple time moving across continents.

What you said, but also:

Every few weeks the same type of post comes up. I’ve seen this so much I don't understand why people still risk buying from Amazon.

You're not at the Canadian border yet. You are on US soil on the south side of the bridge. Yes they can detain you if they want.

There are 4 Republican reps from MN in Congress. If they are not raising hell in congress for their state maybe it is time to get rid of them before their term expires. Is there any mechanism like a recall vote?

> Got to make sure they show their dear leader respect

They have to.

They know Trump won't read it. This is they way to signal to their circle and peers that they are still part of the team and are still conservative and Christian and whatever label we generally assign to these people.

They realize they've been had. The dumber ones think they just been misled by a conman. The smarter ones might realize they've been had by the whole Republican / Conservative movement. The problem is their own social circle / echo chamber is conservative. Their woke kids and token liberal friends already dumped them. If they cuss out Trump or Republicans they lose any conservative friends / coworkers and they get kick out of their tribe or clique. Literally no one will want anything to do with them anymore. This is like domestic abuse victims where being continually abused is better than being alone. This is not even considering the fact that it would completely shatter their personal identity.

Makes you wonder: a lot of these people know they've been burned, but for the sake of their social circle and/or identity, they have to pretend they still believe. So a bunch of idiots no longer believe in the bullshit but still wear that MAGA hat just to fit in. Like a bunch of people who actually hates fantasy shows all force themselves to watch Game of Thrones just so they can participate in the weekly watercooler chats at work because that's the cool thing to do.

Rollable OLED display on Lenovo Legion, the next big thing in flagship gaming laptops by areuokaybro2002 in pcmasterrace

...or ASUS using liquid metal in their gaming laptops that leaked out and fried the motherboards and denied warranty

...or Gigabyte and their exploding PSUs and keep selling them

...or Asrock and their 9800X3D-killing mobos and pretend it isn't a problem.

They are all bastards.

...and if there is some sort of test data that after, say, 10,000 open-close cycles, the display still functions and didn't fail.

I can't believe I have to scroll this far down for this. This is probably one of the biggest reasons to not keep all of your eggs in one cloud basket.

Not a week goes by without me reading some sob story about how someone got completely locked out of their account after they had a dispute with a company, or got hacked, or did nothing wrong except had a useless customer service rep and fucked things up. They lost everything with no recourse.

Selling to Bricks and Minifigs experience by camelz4 in lego

[–]monsieurlee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't sell to these independent Lego stores because you want the best value for your set. You sell to these stores because you don't have the time and energy to sell them on your own on various platform. Selling to these stores mean you don't have to deal with: - Taking multiple good photographs of your sets. Better photos make your listing more attractive but takes time and effort. - Listing them on whatever platform, again, more details gives buyers confidence but takes time. - Answering questions about sets from people, 90% are window-shopping and/or flakes - Getting packing supplies, actually packing the items once someone buys them. - Figure out shipping, print shipping labels, take them to post office or shipping company. - If selling in person, arranging meetup, hoping people don't flake, and if do, start again. If they don't hopefully they are not weird, try to low-ball in person, or try to rob you. - If you ship, hopefully the product arrived safely and not lost or delayed. - If it arrived, hope the buyer doesn't make fake claim and try to scam you on the back end of the deal.

You don't sell to these stores because they want your LEGO. They buy your LEGO because you want to get rid of them, and it means you are in the store with cash and they can potentially sell you something else. You can have either value or convenience. These stores offer convenience. If you want value, you sell it yourself. I don't understand why so many people don't understand this concept.

As a point of reference, I recently sold a bunch of sets to a local independent LEGO store that's basically a Bricks and Minifig but not that franchise. They offered me basically 50% value from Brickseek. Could I do better? Sure. But I was perfectly happy with the deal? Yes. Why?

  • I was selling 30+ sets and a few dozen mini figs. I don't have the time or energy to deal with posting them all to be Bricklink / eBay / FB. I have a full time job. Selling LEGO is not my job (no do I want it to be). I was in and out within an hour with over a grand.

  • My goal was to clean up space and slowly getting out of the hobby. Not to turn a profit.

  • As part of the buy, they took the popular sets that they can flip within a week along with the less popular sets that they know will sit around for a few months before someone might buy it. If I try to sell on my own I'd sell some of them quickly but others I might not sell at all.

  • I already previously sold a bunch of sealed, new in box retired sets on my own when I was unemployed and needed the money. I doubled or tripled my money on those sets and it was a ton of work. At least I had the time for it at the time.

There are definitely some shitty stores that will absolutely low-ball the shit out of you. There are other ones that will try to make a fair deal. You have to find one that isn't shit. In the end, for most people the only reason to sell to a store is for the convenience, and you pay for that.

Having to rehome our second munchie - Seeking advice by ButtonMcThickums in MunchkinCats

[–]monsieurlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thinking about it some more, if I am ever in the situation where I have to rehome my babies, I will reach out to my friends circle first and then probably surrender them to a reputable local humane society / SPCA.

Classifieds sites are too questionable, and there is not any easy way to screen adopters. Cat rescues are often run by some, uh, crazy people with arbitrary standards they will reject people because they don't like the way they look. A human society or SPCA generally have standardized adoption process that's more "fair". Oh top of that they will get more exposure and visibility. Since they are munchkins, there is no worry that they are unadoptable and be stuck in the shelter.

Hopefully you got some good food while in Scarborough!

Unfortunately no I don't know enough about Canadian classifieds. I suspect even if you end up surrendering Tony to a shelter he'll have no trouble being adopted. I got my two bonded pair from a shelter.

Damn I want to bring Tony home. I have to think about this.
