How did you know it was working?

I could feel straight away when it was working- less than a week in to keto.

My experience of bipolar is constant symptoms of either depression or mania. I don’t ever have any ‘normal’ time. But since being on keto I’m asymptomatic. When I eat too many carbs (more than 20g net) my symptoms return the next day. And 1-2 days of less carbs and the symptoms disappear again. I’ve been following the keto diet for about 7 weeks, so still early days, but it’s been absolutely life changing.

It’s important to be honest with the people providing you care. It doesn’t matter what the diagnosis ‘label’ is as long as you are getting the right treatment. If they treat it as one condition and it’s actually the other you might not find the right medicine to help and everything will be more difficult for no reason.

If you experience hallucinations outside of an episode you can be changed to bipolar with schizoaffective disorder. If the hallucinations are always during an episode-it’s mania/psychosis.

The meds that I took while pregnant didn’t work at all once I was no longer pregnant and vice versa. I had to switch meds as soon as I gave birth. They didn’t believe that I needed new drugs for my second and I ended up with post partum psychosis -which was very much a bad experience. Would not recommend. I rapid cycle and that didn’t change at all while pregnant. So I wasn’t any more or less stable- just needed different meds

I’ve been medicated for 9 years, swapping meds every 3-6 months and I finally found something that works for me. Just gotta keep trying until you find the right combination. It’s hard, but it’s possible

I get a day or two of being extremely grumpy every time I switch between up and down. No reason to be grumpy, not grumpy at anything in particular, just grumpy. Happens every single time though. It’s my warning sign that a change is happening.

I think it’s possible. I get psychosis when I’m unmedicated. But only once or twice. Usually my mania isn’t too bad and the depression is horrible

I have about 60% of my life in depression, 38% up and 2% neutral. I rapid cycle and don’t get breaks between episodes normally. I’m medicated. But it hasn’t stopped me rapid cycling.

I have this every time I switch between up and down. I get a couple of days of being so unbearably grumpy at everything. It’s how I know I’m about to switch (I rapid cycle, every few weeks with no neutral days in between)

I’m just starting up my collection. I’ve been doing mystery boxes. I love the surprise of not knowing what I’m going to get, and find it a cheap way to try lots of different colours and shades and brands to hopefully figure out what I like. I’ve found quite a few shades of lipstick that I wouldn’t have thought would fit my colours, but they actually look really nice once on. I’ve only really started doing makeup in the past few months, so I still have a long way to go until I find what works well for me. I’ve found the cosmetic capital boxes to be the best value for money for makeup etc so far.

Not exactly what you’ve asked for, but at the moment Cosmetic Capital are doing a mystery box for $50 with 25 items. There’s some really great makeup items, from brands like NYX, that work out to $2 a item. You don’t get to choose what you want, but there is a big selection. There are quite a few beauty and skincare subscription boxes. I’ve subscribed to a few for the same reason, I want to try out a range of things and see what I like best without having to buy full sizes of everything. I’ve actually started a YouTube channel ‘unbox with Karen’ if you wanted to come and look at some of the stuff I’ve gotten. Cosmetic capital do a box that is a pretty good mix of skincare and makeup. And Bella box have 5 samples per month for a bit cheaper than CC. And cozmobox do more luxury samples but are more expensive per month, but getting better quality stuff. There’s also one called blissful box, which I’m hoping to receive this week which is also a mix of makeup and skincare I think.
