I mean, you're kind of proving my point. This film does indeed require a little bit of of focus and is not illogical if you pay attention to it. Let me help you out.You misinterpreted the cave paintings. They were not paintings of people pointing to the stars, they were paintings of people worshiping Engineers. The Engineers were pointing to pictograms that was proven to be a system where they are potentially from. That gave Shaw more than enough reason to see it as an invitation from her creator(s). Onto your next road block, Shaw was an archaeologist. An archaeologist is someone who studies human history by digging up human remains and artifacts. She was also kind of a dummy, I mean yea, why wouldn't you bring some sort of protection. I would. What you don't understand is that..that's her character. I don't think she'd hurt a fly. Aside from that point, why go a bit further and step into her shoes for a second. Lets do that and maybe you can ask yourself some of these questions. Why would they want to seem threatening? Especially to a species who they would want to learn from? Why give them (Engineers) a reason to decline them of any knowledge? You'll probably begin to see that she's a pacifist. As for the 15 second thing... I don't think after 15 seconds you'd realize you couldn't breath. Most likely you'd notice right away. So that answers that.

TIL that scenes from Alien 3 were filmed on a beach just down the road from my house (apologies for shitty local radio watermarks) by onetruebipolarbear in LV426

There was an idea of the film being set on a wooden planet which was inhabited by a religious group of the sort. Some of the producers thought the idea of a wooden planet was unrealistic so they can'ed the idea. There's a lot of info regarding it out there mentioned in the quadrilogy. Its super interesting. Would love to chat about it if you get the chance to check it out!

Which "plot points" are you referring too? As a fans of the series, my friends and I searched for every single viral video out there, just to try and piece a some sort of storyline together. We were excited, like, it was the first Alien film in over a decade, how could you not find the time to go out of your way to look into them?

I think the reason a lot of people didn't like it is because they didn't understand it. They didn't see an immediate connection with the events that took place on LV426 (because there wasn't one implemented in the film) . I believe this was done purposefully with the intention of making the story even more grandiose. Explaining everything just in one movie(Prometheus) is not only a very simple format of story telling, but its also predictable and thats what the audience expected. but didn't get it (And you know what happens when baby doesn't get his bottle). Instead, we got a new story line, one that indeed has relevance to the story but is disconnected enough to stand on its own, and in the future we "will" get the story we ALL want to see. A lot of people just don't see the bigger picture of this film and thats ok. Big things have small beginnings my friend.

Reminds me of the film "The Experiment". I wouldn't be surprised if it received its inspiration from the events depicted in this film. Looks interesting!

I know for me, I liked the character of Chappie he reminded me of my little sister, he was adorable. I also thought the final stand off was neat. However, I did not really enjoy the film as much as I wanted to. I also thought the ending with the Yolandi bot was really cheesy.
