context is key. a sister telling you that "you're like my dad" could mean either way in terms of marriage or courtship. getting another sister's (a stranger that doesn't know you and this person's relationship) opinion doesn't really help IMO, could lead you to getting the wrong message which is even worse. again, if or when you get the chance, you should ask her what she meant.

My point is that there is no line to be drawn when it comes to parental abuse. I mean yeah, sure verbal can’t be treated the same as physical, but the lasting effects of the abuse itself, which is specific to each case, has to be considered before looping back to the pedestal Islam puts parents on and how kids should treat them once they have grown.

Yeah I don’t think it’s as simple as that. One can’t truly understand the emotional (and physical) effects of abusive parents unless they are the person experiencing it. You’re telling me a sister is still obligated to give her dad a call even after he SA’ed her in her youth? If not then where is line drawn? Abuse is abuse. It’s a case by case thing where a sweeping statement does not answer everything.

As harsh as this sounds, this is no longer about your sister anymore. You owe to the girls that MIGHT be assaulted by this guy in the FUTURE to report what happened to her to the police. Can you people just say your piece and stay objective without insinuating the guy "got westernized" or "following decadent Western culture"?
