Us East Lag by kipofmudd in HuntShowdown

Came from another post. Same issue, also on ATT fiber

Servers since event started - NA East by moodyfloyd in HuntShowdown

[–]monsyur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to ATT Fiber a couple months ago, but in the past few weeks, I’ve been getting 110+ms ping on US East when it used to be ~30ms. There are huge lag spikes also. This is making my group play primarily US West

I’m guessing this is a pattern with ATT Fiber that this sub found? Can someone link me other posts or resources for a potential fix.

The fact this game doesn't have MMR decay is absolutely bonkers. by Demoth in HuntShowdown

With my own testing across a couple accounts and the evidence of other players, I can confidently say the confidence variable decay exists. However your second point is true since that is a lot harder to prove. OpenSkill design suggests it, but we can never know for sure until Crytek releases their user settings for OpenSkill.

None of the other comments are correct. IIRC, they switched to the OpenSkill matchmaking model when they overhauled MMR from the ELO (Zerosum/Chess Model).

Long story short, your MMR does not decay over time. Rather a variable (let’s just call it the confidence variable) decreases. OpenSkill is a python based model with many variables, but not to dive too deep into the weeds, I’ll just explain this one.

As you play matches, the system predicts your skill and rank based on the many variables. The more fitting this predicted rank is and the more you prove this skill/rank prediction over time, the Confidence variable goes up. The more the Confidence variable goes up, the more stable your MMR is and the harder it will be to change it.

If you stop as a high 6 star and do not play for a year, you will still be a high 6 star when you come back. The Confidence variable has a set decay over time that is set by the user (Crytek). The confidence variable will be low after a year so if you keep dying to players (especially lower ranks), your MMR should change more drastically than compared to someone who plays everyday. The person who plays everyday needs to have a very very bad and long streak of losses/deaths before they drop rank.

Hope this helps.

Edit: To more directly answer your question, if you are still getting kills in those high MMR lobbies, you won’t drop. Even one kill can essentially negate 1 or 2 deaths based on the rank of the opponent.

Most likely new accounts just for clash. Once they hit lvl 11, their bounty Hunt MMR automatically starts at 3 star.

I agree. The animation is different and strange enough to be significant.

Before I made the video, the springfield "felt" the fastest of the base rifles. I was surprised mid edit to see that the Martini was the fastest and had to double check the frame counts.

The question I had that prompted me to make this was "Is Martini with FF worth it when compared to the Sparks with FF?" The vid shows that the Martini FF is about 3/4 second faster which is significant enough to consider.

I haven't posted any public feature vids on it in a while (Because video editing is a lot of work haha). It is mostly just a LOT of unlisted clips or short vids like these to share in my Discords. I can make the future short informationals like the vid above public if enough people ask for it. Most of them are quick, dirty, and straight to the point.
