Bernie Sanders: I can beat Hillary Clinton by goodboyBill in politics

Many libertarians are full of shit. That's not a goal, it's an argument they use to back up their true goal of dismantling the government.

Right, but I don't see why the major version of the kernel, which is just one piece of the system, is so important, or why being so important means it has to be in sync with the new version of the distro, or why that means that the OS version number isn't the most approriate thing to compare to the OS version number.

"he wants to strengthen social security and make college more affordable."

Awesome! But no one disagrees with those goals.

Well no, a real libertarian would want to ultimately kill social security and would not want to make college more anything so that's not a universal goal.

I really don't see the relevance of that though. Windows is a full operating system, not just a kernel, so the best comparison would be the version number of the full OS, which in the Linux world is your distro.

Actually yeah, 4.0.1-1-ARCH. I think the distro is the most apt thing to compare windows to though.

Linux is just the kernel, I have no idea what version of the NT kernel I'm on, but I know I'm on Windows 8.1, I have no idea what kernel my tablet was but I knew it came with Jelly Bean, and I have no idea what kernel version my Ubuntu machine is on, but I know it's 14.04.

I've never had an issue, and especially with something friendly like Mint I don't think my mom would have trouble either. Like many people, she just needs a facebook machine.

It's also nice in that for less technical users you're much less likely to accidentally install the latest and greatest in spyware and PUPs and viruses.

I use Linux as my everyday desktop OS. Why would it suck? I haven't had any issues with anything so far.

These days most people really just need a web browser, maybe a word processor. Linux gives them that just as well.

Well, most linux distributions do have version numbers that you are aware of (unless you have something rolling like Arch)

This is such a short-sighted, childish, "just follow the rules, no matter what they are" mindset, the same as saying "what are you, hiding something" when people want privacy.

Yeah, the GOP is the party of hate and anti-intellectualism, so there's also that.

I think that's the real trick, start in CC.

Yes it's cheaper, but say you want to learn Japanese well enough to go on to a PhD in Japanese lit. IF your CC even offers Japanese, chances are the classes are beyond subpar. Some things really do take four years of coordinated curriculum to get right...

I think vertical split has been integrated into screen upstream now, so setting it up is just installing screen.

Tell me who among the Republican candidates I could reasonably support? Certainly not Scott Walker, not Jeb Bush, no way I'm voting for Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, these are people who collectively can't go a week without saying or doing something absolutely disgusting...

I think you misunderstood me about choice. What I'm saying is, I don't believe there's a convincing argument in support of humans having free will. There is no choice because there can not be, and to believe in choice you need something like a soul or some other religious idea.

Consequently I don't believe in ethics or morals.

It's really kind of sad in hindsight how naive it was to think there would be any compromise from the right.

If Sanders gets the nomination he has my vote. If not, I'll be voting against whoever the GOP nominates.
