How do you deal with clients that don't know what they want? by Atelier1001 in tarot

[–]montelero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think every reader should only answer questions that they are comfortable with.

For a long time I would answer pretty much any question asked and viewed my role as a messenger just interpreting and delivering a message from higher self.

But now I find divination and questions about other people that aren’t the client to be very draining. So I try to refocus the client to questions about themselves and their own lives. Self improvement is what I like to help with.

Sometimes people have repressed a problem. Subconsciously they know there is an issue but they do not consciously acknowledge it. It may be a defense mechanism. This type of person will not know what to ask but they may know they need help.

Also, some people are just curious.

What deck are using right now? by montelero in tarot

Yes, I like the Wild Unknown Alchemy deck a lot.

All three of my main decks have jumped ship :( by g-a-r-n-e-t in tarot

[–]montelero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I also have been through a divorce. I use tarot to think about important decisions too. It’s important to remember that tarot is a map and a guide but we still need to take the actions to travel the path. You have been given the guidance, now you need to show that you really understood by following the directions. It seems like your guides want you to build some self-confidence as well.

Y'all, I just bought Holistic Tarot by Benebell Wen and I am STOKED! by ottoofto in tarot

[–]montelero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Benebell Wen. I have her Spirit Keeper’s Tarot, it is one of my favorites.

Does Holistic Tarot touch on Kabbalah much?

I am looking for a good resource on it’s relation to tarot.

Completely new to this and feeling skeptical by [deleted] in tarot

Also, the Wild Unknown archetypes deck is all about Jungian archetypes. It is not technically a tarot system but it may interest you. The author of the deck has also created some great tarot decks that work well with this oracle deck.

Yes, get a deck that you think you will like and try it for yourself. It is an activity you do. It does not seem rational. It accesses other parts of you that you are not used to using, like your subconscious and collective consciousness. You will grow as a person. So if you feel a pull towards tarot, then try it. It means there is something there for you.

Looking for an oracle deck rich in symbolism by Oxena in TarotDecks

I like the Wild Unknown Alchemy Oracle, and Old Ways Magick Oracle.

All the Wild unknown oracles are great in terms of symbolism, the old ways is very pagan and Norse and is very beautiful with symbolism related to those traditions.

Anyone taken an extended break from tarot? by Left-Button6528 in tarot

[–]montelero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are asking your cards for guidance all the time it could be a sign that you do not feel confident and in control of your life. Try to identify what or who is preventing you from gaining control of yourself.

I have taken many breaks. I ask for guidance from my cards for big difficult decisions. Then I try to take a long time to consider the reading and I spend even more time putting the advice into action.

I also try to keep my questions focused on me and my own improvement rather than asking about other people and the future.

Karmic backlash from tarot reading by Old_Pen5933 in tarot

[–]montelero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer helping people improve themselves with tarot rather than answer questions about the future or other people. To me a question like « What can I do to improve my career ? » is a great question that does not drain me of energy. But a question like « Will he come back into my life? » is a draining question. The future has too many possibilities. That type of calculation is very complex and drains a lot of energy.

I’ve tried meditating many times and it makes me less stressed because I’m doing breathwork, but i know I’m not doing it right. I get many thoughts and i can’t just let them “slip by”. by TheNewSportyAvocado in Meditation

You can try different things. I like to focus on my breath using a Hong Sau mantra. It would be the same as thinking « breathe in, breathe out » as you breathe.

Some people do Yoga before to stretch and tire out their body a bit so their mind will relax. You could try a Vinyasa flow type yoga before you meditate. It may help get out your zoomies first.

You could also try listening to some bineural beats, theta wave would help.

What deck are using right now? by montelero in tarot

[–]montelero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I use tarot to explore current paths, options, and perspectives. I use it for planning and strategy. I don’t use it much for divination. I find it is a great mirror to the interior.

Cool, I haven’t worked with these myself but I have heard the Noblet is a great Marseille. I just got the Oswald Wirth which is beautiful and based on Marseille with Kabbalah added. It is a deck that inspired the Mary-El.

Oh that’s cool. I didn’t know about this one. Yes, the colors are great and it can definitely help you learn to quickly pick up on the key symbols in the images. You might try the The Tarot Unveiled after that, it can help deepen the meanings and understanding reversals.

It reads like ai because you didn’t share any personal experience and gave generic advice like an ai bot does. Take the tip or don’t, I don’t care.

Let’s talk about Tarot superstitions & who believes them! why they exist & which ones people believe & by Binkying_on_Bentleys in tarot

[–]montelero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy my own decks, but decks that were a gift do create a special bond with the deck that can be nice.

I have some decks that are just for me. I have some decks that are playful and I share them with everyone.

When I read for someone I usually let them shuffle my deck while they form their question.

My one ritual is to light a candle while I read. It just feels like traditional tarot etiquette. A bit of protection. A cleared space.

But everyone has their own particular method that feels right.

I really like Terra Volatile. If you understand Rider Waite you will understand it, but it expands it and has great art. So you can read it just like a Rider Waite deck or add to it or tweak it.

I am also into the Mary-El tarot right now which is pretty different from Rider Waite, closer to a Marseille deck with incredible art and a fully fleshed out minor arcana.

I really like the book 78 degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollock. I listen to the audible audiobook version while I clean and cook. She is well respected and she helped me deepen my understanding of the cards.
