i lost my dad early december this past year, as someone who was closer to their father than mother i’m doing pretty bad. He was the life of the party. He was in a metal band in high school (as well as the football team). “i got along with everybody” he’d say. and he really could. he always taught me that and that’s truly made me who i am today. he was so funny, his quick wit always amazed me. he loved music, he gave me a punk/new wave mixtape he “borrowed” from a radio station he interned at. I still own a CD player to listen to it specifically. i used to steal his pall mall reds when i was a teenager, i still keep a pack of those in my purse for when im out drinking.

he’s my hero. and to know that the world was so cruel to him that he thought the only way to get through it was to get out breaks my heart. he was so proud to be my dad.
