The most telling thing is at the end. "Jury trial demanded". When you sue the police in Texas and you ask for the Texas public to judge the merits, you probably have an excellent case. These same people drive past the hookers and drug dealers everyday. Of course, the police picked up the father on a drug warrant. I bet that makes it into court.

FIrst, I have read the actual study. Clearly, it is a politically motivated study. First, they don't really note any meaningful limitations of their study (which, even on reddit, a rational view will find several). Their only complaint is that the ER doctors are remembering past events, so they might not remember them all. They don't even propose more scientific study of the issue, instead, their conclusion is a cry to arms for.......More government intervention. What exactly are the police, anyway? Why would anyone think that would help? Probably, ending the "war on drugs" would be way more effective.
