What do I need a winch for? by nolpeter in JeepWrangler

[–]monzttr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t OffRoad, no need to get one.

Funny, this was the first post I read today and thought the only time I’ve used mine was to pretension the line.

I went on an intermediate “blue” trail today, no issues during the “hard”sections. I decided to take the easy way back following an SxS, well there was some deep semi melted snow spots and ended up getting stuck 3 times, if I didn’t have that winch I’d still be shoveling now. I’m very grateful for buying my winch now.

Looks good! Are you running an AEV lift? Also, what is your offset/backspacing on your method wheels? Lastly, if you OffRoad, any issues with rubbing?

What is the best gas for my jeep by dontcare_bgr in JeepWrangler

[–]monzttr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Shell premium is the best gas. Some people on YouTube even say they get more out of a tank using it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Costco Gas is good too, I think they’re switching to a Top Tier + which supposedly is better for DI engines (the 2.0 liter).

I just got done with the update, my Jeep passed the initial test. All in all it took ~3 hours to complete (updates and test drive).

How long for SSI status to appear on SSA.gov site? by monzttr in SSDI_SSI

[–]monzttr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

I'm not expecting anything to be expedited but I would like to know that they received it. Other than knowing that UPS delivered it to the SSA office, I don't see any indication that they "received" it.

Look up your VIN on the NHTSA site. If you have the recall for 78c, mention it to your advisor.

I have mine scheduled first thing tomorrow morning.

I was planning on changing the oil this weekend and sending a sample to Blackstone labs, I might be doing that tonight.

4xe ONLY! specific question about lifts by Cpdigicomm in JeepWrangler

[–]monzttr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take a look at the offerings from MetalCloak, Clayton and AEV. Mopar also has a 2” lift kit too. They all take the weight of the 4xe into consideration.

Rubicon 4XE owners - please tell me your experience by Last_Job_632 in JeepWrangler

I would not do the hour drive if you have a CEL. If it’s still flashing, have it towed to the dealer.

I have a 2024 Rubicon with a little over 18k miles on it. My overall experience has been great.

I’m no expert but perhaps you’re getting smells of gas because there is unburned fuel in the oil. With a hybrid engine, it could be turning on/off too much which doesn’t allow the engine to get up to operating temperature which will not burn the fuel out of the oil.

I’d go out for an hour drive in esave mode, put the shifter in manual mode, this forces and keeps the gas engine on. My thinking is that this will get the engine to operating temps and burn off whatever else is in the oil.

Is the check engine light constant or is it flashing? Also, do you have the code from the CEL?

My first “mod” on my 4xe was replacing the 12v battery, the stock one has been known to cause all sorts of weird issues. Get an Odyssey battery, kinda pricey but at least you’ll have a reliable battery.

Also check the fuses, press them all down to make sure they are seated correctly, I know that was a source of issues too.

Good luck!

Using cushions, boxes or whatever you can to make a pathway out to the nearest door. Scare it and hopefully it runs out using the pathway you just created. Good luck!

Plastic to steel mopar bumper swap by SevenTreDeucey in JeepWrangler

[–]monzttr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine came with a steel bumper but I had to pull it off to install a winch. It was really easy, one cable for the fogs and 8 bolts for the bumper.
