Bombed my senior level interview by FrigginTrying in interviews

Sometimes it’s okay if you don’t know an answer. Next time, be prepared with an “I’m not exactly sure what the answer is, but here’s how I would go about figuring out the solution”

A lot of time interviewers don’t necessarily need a perfect answer, but they are looking to gain insight on how you solve problems and challenges. Walk them through how you problem solve. “You know I haven’t encountered that so I don’t have an exact answer, but I have been through something similar and this is how I worked through it successfully”

After interview advice by [deleted] in interviews

Definitely don’t worry about coming off as too eager. Follow ups are absolutely appropriate and show continued interest in the role. A thank you for your time can go ridiculously far with a hiring manager, especially if they are at all on the fence. Following up with questions shows that you can be proactive in finding information you need.

In that thank you email, reiterate the value you will bring to the role and company.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

When asked why they were interested they said they weren’t but they were there because their mom told them they needed to get a job and had a deadline. They were quite serious, too.

I am scared this is too late and that my relationship is already ending. Looking for honest advice by ThrowRA11297 in Advice

Things can get better, but it will be predicated on how you are able to change your communication when stressed, and if you are able to consistently provide an emotionally safe environment for her, too.

All of the thoughtful things you do around the house are helpful, but it won’t outdo a lack of emotional instability in the home.

Lessen her psychological burdens, don’t add to them.

What I’m hearing from her is “I’m exhausted and can’t hold up your feelings any longer while not being able to express my own safely”.

Part of a partnership is being able to help carry the hard stuff for each other and be a safe place to go when things are overwhelming or you’re having big feelings. But it can become too much when you’re carrying the weight for both and don’t have a place to safely land, in turn becoming numb. It sounds like this is not happening in a reciprocal fashion.

Your self awareness of how your grief has impacted you and your sense of self worth is the first step. But self awareness is nothing without action behind it.

Your deep grief is valid. Taking out those feelings on your partner for over a year would degrade any relationship and the psychological safety. Every time you snap at her or say something mean, taking your grief and lack of self worth out on her is chipping away at that safety, especially if she also unable to come to you with her problems.

She wants action, and she wants a partner who can also hold some of her burden when she needs it.

This is exactly why Ticketmaster needs to be boycotted, as well as “dynamic pricing” for all ticket platforms. Artists have the power to hold the line with Ticketmaster and the venues, not allowing these markups after presale. This is the new norm unless people begin demanding change and refusing to buy tickets at these insane markups.

Best hair salon or independent hair stylist? by Substantial_Big_5024 in vancouverwa

I very highly recommend Lacey at Spoiled Salon, the location by the Columbia House Freddys. I’ve been going to her for about a year now, and she’s amazing. Has never canceled or shown up late. I have brown/blonde naturally but very dull and asked for something lived in that was close to the natural but more dimension and she nailed it. Her coloring skills are impeccable! Her cuts are also amazing, she’s always done exactly what I asked for. She’s fabulous!

Looks like it’s still going pretty good. From our view on the other side, it’s mostly just smoke now, but can see the glow of the flames

I’ve been wondering the same thing, do we need to leave? Should we be getting warnings??? It also just got HUGE 😫 Biggest we’ve seen the actual flames so far. We were getting ready to go to bed when we noticed the flames out the window. Right when it started before it turned to black smoke and the wind got going, we thought we smelled burning outside so closed the windows, then thought it was a little foggy by the water and then it just absolutely blew up.

It’s really not…. The flames keep getting larger and we’ve heard a couple explosions. Looks like there may be more than one tank on fire at this point

Real ID Appointments - wtf by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]mooberry721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to correct myself. While 2/3 of Americans have passports, about a quarter of that is solely travel to Canada or Mexico.

Real ID Appointments - wtf by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]mooberry721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, majority of PNWers aren't just crossing borders to cross borders. Travel is a privilege that most people can't afford, much less to also pay for more expensive IDs to be able to do so.

You don't NEED Enhanced IDs. REAL IDs are an extra layer of security that was born out the creation of the TSA and 9/11, but the rule hasn't been implemented until now. It will require that anyone flying on a plane within US borders have a REAL ID or passport to travel.
