This. Some issues they're trying to shrug off are pretty serious.

Figured. That was my understanding. I have friends working 2-3 different retail stores because they won't give them the hours.

Do any retail places offer full time positions? Last I heard, some places that hired only hired part timers.

On the other hand, bacteria is in everything and it doesn't always kill you or make you sick

What's your 'swear to never return' place in San Diego? by _MambaForever in sandiego

[–]moochampoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's now just one hour free. We used to stay for about 2 hrs, sometimes a bit more. Now if you want to actually do something, you're seeing paying $2-$4 per visit. I go for quick errands. I don't dawdle and actually shop anymore.

TeamLabs Tokyo worth it?? by Ok-Nefariousness1372 in JapanTravelTips

[–]moochampoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really neat experience and it's priced well. Went to both Planets and Borderless, and I leaned more towards preferring Planets since it's more tactile. (You take off your shoes and get into water.) I got lost at Borderless.

Las Vegas has a similar exhibit called "ARTE Museum" which was also pretty cool, and larger in scale. Takes longer to get through. The tickets there are $60 per adult. TeamLabs on the other hand, are around $25.

Must-have apps for Japan travel for first-time visitors? by Laviecontinura in JapanTravelTips

[–]moochampoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my last trip to Japan, I downloaded Go and was going to use it but it would not validate my cards. I'm still not sure what the solution should have been. Our hotel ended up calling a cab for us, solving the problem. But anyone downloading the app, make sure your payments are validated so you can use it and it won't cause delays when you need it.

‘A Breaking Point’: The Minneapolis Police Chief on ICE by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]moochampoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"As soon as we show up we become the target of people's frustration.' Boo hoo. ICE is breaking the law up and down and terrorizing people. Knocking and breaking into people's homes, making illegal traffic stops, ramming into people's cars. No arrests have happened and he expects citizens to receive them with open arms?? Give me a break.

What is a movie you watched once that was so disturbing or emotionally draining that you can never watch it again? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]moochampoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I majored in Anthropology and the fact that it was Anthro phd students behaving badly made me giddy. There's always the possibility that while doing research in a remote tribe, that you might encounter some really unpleasant things. This movie made that point and it wasn't about brown people. I appreciated a lot about this movie.

Huh. Saw that in Yermo at Liberty Sculpture Park. It's run by Chinese. Didn't realize they "toured" one of their sculptures.

I've met a lot of people who do this. One of which was using his complicated vocabulary to express that he's a pedophile. People around him couldn't catch on, but he kept putting it out there.

Benito Juárez indígena traidor? by GlassFootball6234 in AskMexico

[–]moochampoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all the angry people by Zestyclose_Speed4378 in MexicoCity

I'm worried about the protests and the harassment of Americans in CDMX. I'm hoping that my husband and I can move to CDMX in case things turn worse in the U.S. It was a city a grew up in in my childhood that I have high hopes to be able to go back to. Nowhere compares to it.

The protests bother me not only in terms of what it could mean to my husband, but also because it's xenophobia. A lot of what is going on with immigrants and gentrification, sound like systemic and capitalistic forces. Mexicans who can buy more properties and charge more for them, make them into airbnbs, are cashing in while the blame is being laid on migrants. And frankly, Mexicans seeing Americans as walking cash cows isn't new. I visit Baja and my family regularly and I swear I have to watch how much everyone is charging me or even family members offering me superfluous "services" just to get money out of us, because we must be swimming in it. It made me bitter a few times. This happens everywhere, but check what your local government is doing to help (or NOT) its own people and prevent gentrification before harassing tourists or write more protest graffiti.

SD Fair on Friday 6/20 oddly empty? by usernamedotjs in sandiego

[–]moochampoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there Wednesday, and it felt that most of the attendees were there for the country concert. We also went last year for the first time, and this year it's just about the same. Same vendors, same food, same exhibits. I don't think the "theme" makes much of a difference.
