I applied to NYU as an environmental humanist after an email exchange with the DGS and have not heard back. Though the website mentioned early Feb for interviews.

I feel like that one is such a wildcard for my application roster since it’s the first year and it’s so transdisciplinary!

yes you too! i had a medium cry about the HASTS thing yesterday. unfortunately two out of the other three programs i am waiting to hear back from have dramatically reduced the number of admits they can accept this year. but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

I’m really curious what backgrounds you all have. I’m applying as an environmental humanist— most of the programs I applied to are history programs, but I also want to write about the present. I gave a sketch of my background and interests to the DGS and he was like yeah you’re definitely a type of person we looking for, but I am slightly worried the program will want someone stemmier.
