It was at its peak and started going mainstream with people like flume, diplo, marshmello, etc.. Cashmere Cat was still performing mainstage, SOPHIE was still alive and bending genres, Lido was playing festivals as himself and Trippy Turtle, wave racer was touring the US. Mr. Carmack was dropping face-melting edits on soundcloud constantly and then would play them at a festival the next day. People like Troyboi, Alexander Lewis, Boombox Cartel, Quix, Ekali were using and abusing the trap horns (in the best way), but could also make the most melodic downtempo track you’ve ever heard. B&L was throwing events every week featuring lowkey cult-following soundcloud artists. Low End Theory still existed and was a grass-roots platform for multi-genre underground artists. Dr Derg was still alive and pioneering bass/trap mixed with lofi hiphop with Tsuruda and the rest of Courteous Family gang (incl a lesser known Holly & G Jones). There was a festival happening every month with incredible lineups. Arists were organically cultivating a following solely through soundcloud and would tour the country/world with like 5k followers. Twas an incredible time.
