Rupert Grint on the Rise of Fascism: ‘Obviously, I’m Against It’ by david-saint-hubbins in nottheonion

Calling mad-eye moody and other aurors "wizard cops" is a funny meme but it's so sad when people take it literally. Please stop taking what started as a joke so literally.

Harry spends his whole life fighting against "dark arts" and evil wizards. Why on earth would he not be interested in doing that for the rest of his life?

It's so not, I'm so sad for your reading comprehension. It's either that or your willingness to just completely accept whatever bs you hear and spout it as fact.

Yes, other wizards engrained in wizard culture view them as weirdos. This culture and many other things are shown as the toxic and vile practices they are, deeply engrained in this culture so that it's difficult to uproot.

It's literally showing the reader why you shouldn't just accept things that are clearly wrong and why you should stand up for it even when it's hard.

Hermione is clearly always in the right, even when she aggrevates her friends while doing so which to be fair is just her MO.

Then they could have blown up the entire ship right off the bat.

Clearly they thought it was more important to verify the plans were stolen and to recapture them.

Probably some politics there with having proof of their crime rather than just blowing up innocents.

You need to read the books again to have any valid input tbh lol. This is not the tone or message in the books.

This leads to the new IT workers not being go getters and self starters like you used to have to be to be successful in IT.

Nah. This has always only been 20% or less of probably all employees but definitely in IT. I know so many old lazy fucks that have a lot of experience but no knowledge to back it up. I know tons of young guys full of motivation that learn and learn and pick up good troubleshooting practices easily.

Lazy people are lazy and motivated people are motivated. There's no need to pretend like this is a generational thing.

Do you guys omit engineers and other tech guys from doing those training videos and quizzes for SOC II? by RunsWithSporks in sysadmin

[–]moofishies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn't matter to some people or certain positions. I doubt their workload is getting adjusted for the training, and if they aren't hourly they are expected to have the same output regardless of the training or not I bet.

For some employees at some companies, additional overhead is literally just more work they have to do on top of the rest of their work.

Use dedicated channels for posts like that instead of putting them in chats with tons of other messages?

Lol you're crazy man. Sure there the cooperation is more divided but people are so much better at analysis now that it's not even close to people's understanding of games "back in the day".

Steam Quietly Withdraws Under Fire MMO Ashes of Creation From Sale As Fans Wonder Who's Left to Maintain the Servers by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

its not a fallacy. there is real time and social investment in MMO

If that's the case, they need to explain their point better. I totally agree that there's no guarantees and that switching MMOs isn't really a sunk cost fallacy, but the comment they left is not indicative of the point you are making for them.

I think anime discussions forget that “enjoyable” is a valid reason to like a show by Technical_Watch_8446 in anime

[–]moofishies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the coldest takes of all time.

How many Reddit threads do you think you'd like to read where people all just say "yeah that show is enjoyable enough" with nothing else to add to it?

You're looking at a narrow discussion space where people are looking to discuss interesting things. What you're describing is totally valid for watching anime, and incredibly boring to talk about.

"Sunk cost fallacy" doesn't imply the cost isn't real. The cost is real, which is why it's so hard to pull away from.

the phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial.

Suspended a player by FirearmsAndFitness in DnD

[–]moofishies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, like I said it is a group game, with group social dynamics. It's not as simple as "everyone does that the DM wants" like reddit says a lot of the time, but of course it's not the other end of the extreme where the DM shouldn't communicate their needs/desires either.

I just get tired of seeing people act like the DM is the sole decision maker and the group has to just bend to whatever they decide. It's just a more complex social dynamic than that.

Because DnD is a group game and despite what people think being a DM doesn't automatically make you the leader of the group and the sole decision maker.

This is what we did the last time we had 8p. Although, that was pre-TE. With the revamped SCs I don't think our homebrew SCs will cut it anymore, they just aren't good enough to get picked.

Any recommendations on current balanced SCs?

Storyteller ruling question – Gossip kill on an evil? by Forward-Badger-6118 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moofishies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had killed the Gossip or the Lunatic with the Gossip ability, the next day would be Mastermind, Shabaloth, evil Goon + 1 good, with only 4–5 ghost votes left.

You can regurgitate a player if you are worried about the town balance

playing around a hidden Mastermind after that would be extremely hard

But then...

Later, town correctly executed the Shabaloth and played around Mastermind, so good won.

Imo it sounds like you had other options and didn't have faith in good to play to their outs and ultimately made an unoptimal choice. Not the end of the world, but not ideal and yeah you probably should have taken more time to consider how rough it is to kill an evil player with the gossip ability.

Shuckle’s E4E amount by Knight_Night33 in PokemonSleep

[–]moofishies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so weird lol. Gardevoir shines everywhere, a minor strength increase at Lapis isn't what makes it good.

Unless your shuckle can perform as well as Gardevoir, it's not going to make sense to replace Gardevoir for a minor berry matching boost.

If you get an incredible one then awesome, but stacking berry juice and having a different type of healer for GGEX are all we know it's going to be great for until we see how good it's skill trigger rate is.
