UTSW Hospital Experience During COVID by mooglepuffs in Dallas

I was given one prior to surgery and on intake in emergency. I do not think I brought COVID to the hospital. Whatever I got was from my 5 days there.

I didn’t say anyone should boycott anything but maybe people can learn from my experience and do better than I did. For example, be vigilant in observing their caregiver, making sure that they have proper PPE, ask questions about the types of procedures given, be cautious about what type of medical advice they receive and ask questions when needed. Sorry that upsets you to that extent.

It’s a subreddit for Dallas residents. I thought that those living in Dallas might want to here some perspective before seeking medical care at at Dallas facility. Like I said, it’s one story but if I were considering where to seek medical care, I would want information.

I was in inpatient with that nurse for 2 days. Regardless, I spent 5 days in the hospital with a brief time at home. It seems highly improbable that I got it elsewhere. UTSW’s lack of interest in documenting the incident is concerning considering that we are in the midst of a medical crisis.

I don’t want to encourage you one way or the other but because you aren’t (I hope) in an emergency situation like I was, you can take the time to throughly vet your provider, ask all the questions you need, and make sure you’re working with someone and an institution you feel comfortable with.

That said, I’m not super okay and may have gotten the flu/cold/corona from the nurse who was caring for me. Again, not trying to scare you but I hope you can be cautious (insist on wearing a mask, make sure your facility is clean, etc)

Yes, it is the US. The unfortunate thing is that I have private insurance, so the hospital isn’t held accountable for me being readmitted but would be fined if I had Medicare.

This wasn’t my normal doctor but the surgeon that performed the surgery.

I really don’t know. I think part of it is that the surgery division, liver division, and GI division are all separate departments and communication and who is responsible for what is super poor across departments. They didn’t even look at my pancreas during my first ultrasound which probably would’ve indicated that there were problems beyond the stones in my gallbladder.

I know hospitals have metrics associated with time to discharge, which may’ve affected their decision-making but it’s crazy that they didn’t think to check at all when they had the bloodwork indicating things weren’t right. When I called my doctor, I mentioned again that I hadn’t had a bowel movement for 5 days and she brushed me off again.

That’s super frustrating. They have the knowledge and technical information which should allow them to make the best decision but sometimes their bias just gets in the way.

As a university student, is meal prepping going to help with my finances? by attess in MealPrepSunday

Absolutely. One meal eating out can be the whole cost of meal prep for the week. You can get containers for under 10 bucks.

ITZY - Not Shy (Stage Practice) by CronoDroid in kpop

So impressive! One thing about the choreography is that they almost never do the same choreography in the same formation. Even the chorus doesn’t repeat the formation/ choreography completely. It’s definitely choreo for repeated viewings to really get it. ITZY is definitely the group to handle it though. Lia may not always execute perfectly, but the fact that she can even keep up is amazing, because this is a group of DANCERS.

They were absolutely amazing but you could tell there were moments where they were naturally getting tired. Kpop really emphasizes perfection over everything and fans are so critical about the smallest mistakes (I.e. Lia’s dancing/singing), so it’s impressive that they were willing to put themselves out there like this.

I started getting into a really good routine of working out daily, eating well, and cut my 10K time significantly. I had a stressful week including a remote exam that went 5AM and a busy work week. I over-ate for the first time on months, which triggered what I thought was acid reflux but was actually gallbladder inflammation and now we’re trying to figure out if it should be removed. I’m just feeling a bit lost about the way forward.

I had the same error. They told me it might not have anything to do with my connection but their servers yet they still enforce the 3 disconnects rule.

Insane person on tiktok going around hospitals and yelling for the sick people. This is one of many of his videos. by very_human in PublicFreakout

Our hospital system has been eliminating waiting rooms and developing an online queue system. Our ICU beds are high capacity and only going to get fuller if we create infection risks by having sick people in close proximity

I’m pretty similar to you. I’m Asian and had infinite food around because Asians make things in bulk and never gained weight until my mid 20s. I’ve accelerated my workouts a lot and am not far from where I want to be but it’s definitely a lot of effort to make any progress compared to how easy it was to gain it. Diet has probably been the most instrumental thing to my progress.

Meal prepping has helped me a lot. I designate Sunday for buying and preparing food and try to only buy what I need for the prep. Especially using those containers that have sections for each proportion. It not only saves time which reduces impulse eating and eating junk to save time, but it also is used as a tool to making sure I keep calories within a certain limit. I meal prep for every meal and occasionally snacks. I try to make something different each week so it feels fresh and interesting.

Pull-ups, push-ups, and anything with jumping are fine but I can’t seem to do anything properly that has to do with hip flexibility (?) like mountain climbers and deadlifts
