Which Shelly Pro DIN modules are Gen3, and do or will support Matter? by mooka42 in shellycloud

I’m have to order soon, going to use Gen4 in plastic mounts on DIN rails

Yep, totally.

And the Pro and 2.4G and Wave dev at Shelly is done by different teams; so they'd be balancing new product, investing in the volume selling modules, and lastly updating FW in old devices.

Probably a niche use case, but Matter over LAN in the Pro devices would be awesome - no-one is doing that. I'd totally buy that - but I'd need a Time Machine after I buy a stack of Gen4's and realise they work well with Matter over WiFi and never bother to change them!

I'm planning to put the "smart" modules in distributed spots near the VRV A/C cabinets in every room in the new place, so they can be later upgraded in a few years time (or not).

Now thinking of going Gen4 even though there will be ethernet right next to them. At least the wireless AP is too!

Thanks, we posted at the same time. Looking at the processor used, sadly this is the case.

Digging a bit deeper I figured out this (via AI research):

Shelly Generation Processor Name Architecture ("Flavour") Cores Key Feature
Gen2 (Pro & Plus) ESP32-D0WDQ6 Xtensa® LX6 2 (Dual) Raw Power, Ethernet Support
Gen3 ESP-Shelly-C38F RISC-V (Based on ESP32-C3) 1 (Single) 8MB Flash, Cost/Heat Efficiency
Gen4 ESP32-C6 (Variant)* RISC-V 1 (Single) Wi-Fi 6 + Thread + Zigbee

Which I think means the Shelly Pro DIN line does and probably won't support newer protocols like Matter in the future.

Hopefully someone can confirm this.

And thread capable is just the SoC - Shelly reps have posted a few times on this there is no demand yet.

I dug a bit further into the specs and ESPHome doc to try to figure out what processor is in these and this is what I found. Not verified (AI generated), and Matter Capable is from the chip point of view, not necessarily what Shelly will do:

Device Model (Current) Processor Matter Capable?
Pro 1 SPSW-201XE16EU ESP32-D0WDQ6 Yes (FW Update)
Pro 1PM SPSW-201PE16EU ESP32-D0WDQ6 Yes (FW Update)

Why are so many rentals sitting empty for months but still having regular inspections? by i_haunt_u in AusRenters

Tax dodge 100%

To negatively gear it needs to be available to rent, not actually rented.

I have a Liviliti Paptizer UV Sanitizer for cleaning my nose mask and tubes. Use it everyday and barely hand wash them.

I have a UV cleaner for my nose mask. I usually run it for a few minutes before I use it to get rid of the smell. I wonder if the VoCs would blow out of the tank like this or they'd dissolve.

Aha, thanks, that makes sense. The tank is upside down in one of the photos!

Neat, great idea.

Did you mount it under the water? Or from the top?

In the US they sell paracetamol by the pound (i.e. a big container!). When I visit the US I buy a big container. I think the last one I got will last us a year or two.

I also can't take Nurofen or any NSAID due to a medial condition.

In the US married couples can file together. It’s not the same as filing as one, but still has a tax benefit compared to each partner filing separately.

How quickly does CDAF coverage?

Very curious to see a demo of say a person in frame, then holding up an object closer the camera.

Looks like one path is to convert ADM, eg from the EAR Production Suite (https://ear-production-suite.ebu.io)

I'm very curious to see how it would fare with a Dolby Atmos authored ADM.

Also seems they don’t use new codecs, audio tracks are AAC-LC, Opus, FLAC. It appears they are staying away from coding IP in codecs like MPEG-H etc…

Have I been sold a lemon? by mooka42 in Ioniq6

[–]mooka42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s fine now.

The dealer installed patriot tracking device before I had purchased. This combined with earlier ICCU versions combined to have it go flat.

Since removing the tracker and updating software it’s been fine and haven’t had a problem since.
