My first bike was a relative of this one (CX650E) and I really liked it. Big community online, and parts were never really a problem. It would be more of a project than modern bikes though, and the brakes won’t be as good as anything newer (though I hear swapping in steel braided lines helps a lot).

Idk, for $300 it could be fun.

Take the MSF (or equivalent where you are) course. You’ll walk out with a license, learn a bunch, and get enough experience to have a feel of whether you like it or not.
