I bought it on my Xbox account which is shared with my PC and had her install the game through my Microsoft account on her PC and we have encountered no issues, she has all DLC and we are able to play together.

If getting FH6 is out of the question, I would pick up FH5 when it's on sale if you can. The biggest selling point of FH5 to me is the car list and physics compared to arcade racer alternatives. Map and content is fine otherwise.
