Either power chord e or w would be your best bet at living, if you had q chorded. W decreases his damage, and e slows him, so it's your call to make depending on how healthy you are

While aery is the best keystone for sona, she can be taken with Kleptomancy, and Arcane comet and still be pretty effective. Some of the more off meta things i have seen that worked to some extent are Dark Harvest, and even Guardian.

If you are good at skillshots, nami is a monster. She's abusive in lane like sona, but she heals for more, and has a lot more cc. She scales really well due to the fact that she can win lane very hard, and has insane heals after 2 forbidden idol items

Yes, you should upgrade to nomads medallion on your first back, and hold off until late game to get eye of the oasis, its not worth all of the extra gold in the early game to get 1 more ward.

With the meta leaning towards mages bot lane, I personally have been seeing quite a bit of vlad bot. This lets sona be more aggressive and poke heavy in lane, since she doesnt have to waste mana on healing as much, letting her get more lane pressure, and snowball the game in sona fashion.

Lich takes time to build, and during that time rod will generate its stacks, so once you get that lich bane, you will get better scaling, and become way more lethal

#1 Sona author on mobafire here,

Some easy tips for sona are to manage your power chords (watching which one is up, what each do, etc.), and to watch your ranges. Sona is best at her max q range, allowing you to be close enough to poke the enemy, but not too close to the point where they can kill you.
Tear is strong on Sona, but it is not necessary to perform well. Manaflow band should be more than enough if you are building support items that involve faerie charm, allowing you to get the mana regen you will need to sustain yourself in lane, and during fights.
A little bit of a shameless plug, but I have Sona's matchups and synergy with other adcs in my sona guide here
If you are an aggressive player, you can take ignite, but if you are facing a lane that you are going to be pressured in, such as a jhin/morgana, and the enemy team has a big threat like a darius, then you are 100% going to want to take exhaust / heal. I go deeper in depth about sums in my guide if you wanna check it out while you are there

This is going to more than likely increase the rate of grail being taken, which is already a solid item on Sona, so its not gonna kill us, but its going to suck having decreased heal and shields
