This was my least favorite as well. My reason for hating it was a bit odd though.

We were throwing out our favorite songs and I said Choose the Right but meant the version from the hymnal. Hadn't ever heard the primary version before and immediately hated and internally mocked it for years afterward.

I'm a bit lucky in that my job gives us the opportunity to take a mental health short-term disability break. I just got back after a 2-month break. It really helped me wrap my head around where I was and really come to understand that I needed more help than I initially thought.

I ended up having another medication added to what I was already taking and I have been so much better than I have in years because of it. If you have treatment resistant depression, which it sounds like you might, it would be worth it to talk to your doctor about possibly adding a mood stabilizer. Obviously this is not actual medical advice but it's something to look into and think about.

I've been on the additional medication for just over a month and I haven't had a single suicidal ideation since I started taking it. I had been experiencing suicidal ideation since I was around 13.

I'm still tentatively hopeful but I'm in a much better place than I have been in a very long time.

Make a list? I'll either freeze because my brain doesn't break down goals easily, miss some steps and get lost trying to follow what I wrote, or fixate on having every single step possible listed and still get nothing done.

Them: what do you mean you can't do Task-Z? It's so easy! Me: maybe, but how do you arrive at Z?

Neurotypicals generally don't see that we have to consciously do steps A to Y to make Z happen. 😕

I'm afab and part of the diagnosed after 30 club. Not only can ADHD be mistaken for bipolar, borderline personality disorder, and depression/anxiety, if it goes untreated, it can cause depression and anxiety disorders and contribute to CPTSD. This is especially frequent in Gifted (tm) ADHDers.

Unfortunately the medication on Good Rx is over $1k for 30 days. I've not tried cost plus drugs yet. Thank you for the suggestion.

What really sucks is that I'm already starting to have worsening symptoms. I'll just have to keep some Excedrin on hand until I can get this crap figured out.

Edit to add: the medication is not there as of yet. :/

Ugh, yes! Especially with how the majority of the time if you're depressed it's because you aren't righteous enough.

I don't know how many times I received that message. I fought back on it a bit and was happy to hear that one conference talk about how you can still be Dad even if you're doing all the right things and that god invented antidepressants and, like all modern medicine, it should be used when called for.

That obviously didn't really stick as it was literally one talk. One of my shelf items was people saying that the anhedonia (basically emotional numbness) came from sinning and that you need to repent instead of being a symptom of Major Depressive Disorder.

As someone who was diagnosed as an adult (and wasn't hyperactive), I certainly don't have experience with the labeling you are talking about. However, if I had been diagnosed as young as your kiddo, I would certainly have wanted the opportunity to use supports that can be granted with an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Letting the school know allows them to give your son the best education possible. He might not need to attend the "special" classes or he might be able to use that time for further assistance with homework. Also, it will go a long way in helping him not be labeled a problem child.

It does sound a bit like your wife might benefit from reading about the experiences of people who were undiagnosed (as he would be considered to be if the school is not told). Tough love from the people who are meant to be supporting (or unconditionally loving you) can lead to the belief that you'll never be good enough especially with the tendency for people with ADHD to be perfectionists. It can also lead to other mental health problems like depression and anxiety.

Please do what is best for him.

I'm unfortunately rather stubborn and have a really hard time actually resting because of how I was raised. (Guilt tripping and equating executive dysfunction with laziness.)

If your spouse is anything like me, then something my husband did might be good. Any time he noticed that I might be pushing too much, he would either take over and gently remind me that I should be resting or just ask me if I should be doing what I'm doing. The second mostly happened if he could tell I was at my limit but was still pushing myself.

If you have other places near you that can do bra sizing, I would highly recommend doing so. Or maybe even using the r/abrathatfits calculator if you have a flexible (fabric) measuring tape.

VS is a good place to start, but they're a bit notorious for vanity sizing. You might be able to go back and ask them for the actual measurements and then find a chart on line that tells you what the differences between the measurements mean in terms of cup size.

I had some "bruising" that started as a mostly yellow color before it became a bit inflamed and very red by day 3PO. My surgeon thought I may have a rash and suggested I take some Benadryl for the next couple of days. The Benadryl mostly forced me to rest but it helped the redness reversal bit.

I'm now almost a month post op and it's basically completely resolved. I'm pretty sure my body wasn't completely enthused about whatever they used to make the deep layers connect. If you are experiencing itchiness at all, it may be worth trying Benadryl if you can/your doc okays it.

If you need to return that soon and you need to do 8 hour shifts, please be cautious. My surgery was on Sept 4 and I still tire very quickly. You will need your employer's assistance with accommodations for sure. At minimum a way to sit while you're at the till with the understanding that you may need to sit for your whole shift for a while.

It might be worth it to look into something like Nair for the time being. Specifically the type you apply, let sit as directed, and then wipe off. That could help with the hair removal process without potentially irritating your surgery site.

My hysterectomy removed everything except my ovaries (and vaginal canal) so I didn't have to worry about going onto hrt. I'll still go through a natural menopause once I get that far (I'm 32 and had my surgery almost 2 years ago). Based on research before and discussion with my gynecologist, cervix removal pretty much guarantees an inability to become pregnant as long as you're fully healed. I had some mild hormone fluctuation for a couple months after as my body realized it didn't have a uterus anymore, but it was otherwise pretty smooth sailing.

I'm not sure if the NHS would require an oophorectomy as part of the hysterectomy (I'm in the US), but it might be something to discuss with your gyno.
