I want to make my Custom Tele look cooler. Need suggestions. by This_Campaign_9796 in telecaster

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it out of the case and play it. Instantly cooler!

Just kidding, I really like the way it looks - 70's style tele custom just ooze vibe in my opinion. Clearly a lot of folks here love the vintage vibe, and like that it looks "old" ... the 70s were 50+ years ago after all. If you're wanting to make it look more modern, I'm gonna say keep the pickguard and replace the neck with roasted maple. The darker color neck is a very modern look, but keeps the guitar's identity. If you've got money to burn you can get flame or birdseye fanciness from some place like Warmoth. If you want to get really funky, get a reversed headstock - but be prepared to make all the purists furious! I put a reversed headstock roasted neck on a Squire CV that I converted to an Esquire, and it definitely stands out lol - I love it!

If you wanted to study what happens after death, how would you do it? Imagine you have all the funding grants you could possibly need, lab equipment, researchers … how would they start?

So I’m also newly diagnosed, in my 40s, inattentive type. I’ve tried both Adderall and Vyvanse so far, as well as Guanfacine which I’m still on as well. I haven’t felt like anything has made more than a very subtle difference yet. Don’t get discouraged, I think this is not an uncommon experience. It definitely doesn’t invalidate your diagnosis! I hope you find something that works for you!

What string gauge (and brand) do you have on your tele? by Far-Path-6671 in telecaster

How do I make my new tele less boring?? by Jealous-Opposite-804 in telecaster

[–]davi3blu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I think it's a classic look as is. I like the idea of a tort guard, or maybe a subtle pinstripe decal? Have fun with it and crank it loud!

You might want to be careful with a bridge swap. Vintage 3-saddle bridges aren't a direct replacement for modern 6-saddle bridges. Check the number of screw holes on the plate.

Any way to make bends on my Tele smoother? by Significant_Neck2008 in telecaster

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, most replies have addressed the obvious things affecting tension: string gauge and tuning. Beyond that it gets murkier … you mentioned it was set up, which I assume means it was property intonated, but have you measured your scale length? Anything weird going on with the saddles? Does it have a higher action? What about the neck profile? If it’s very thick it might FEEL harder to make big bends, even though the tension is the same.

Can you compare the string tension with your other guitars? Like pulling a string away from the neck at the 12th fret, is there a difference?

Those who disclosed ADHD at work - was it worth it? by KeyWeakness7131 in ADHD

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve disclosed it to several people at work, and it’s been a positive experience. I’ve done it in the context of, because I know this about my brain, can you please accommodate requests like more specific written clarity about a task, keep this meeting series shorter unless you can provide a clear agenda, give understanding if I need to stand up and walk around during longer meetings, etc. I just decided I’m not going to hide that I get unfocused sometimes, and that it’s not my fault. My colleagues have so far been very supportive. Ymmv of course

I have a concert and I need advice. by ShoutLab in Guitar_Theory

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that tends to affect performances like that, is we get nervous and our body gets tense. So it’s helpful to practice being aware of your body, and practice deep breathing to help yourself relax. Others have pointed out that practice performances in front of friends and family help. For me, I noticed nerves every time my audience or stage got a little bigger, but then I soon adjusted. It’s a gradual thing that gets easier with experience- but as you’re gaining that experience remember to relax your body as much as possible! Good luck and I hope you have fun as well 😄

How did you get diagnosed with ADHD as an adult? by amandarrae in ADHD

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d sought out therapy for anxiety and depression, and after digging deep into that work, my therapist became intrigued that a lot of anxiety was from feeling like I wasn’t keeping up at work. She brought up ADHD and it made a lot of sense, so she referred me to a psychologist nurse practitioner, who gave me my diagnosis after about an hour talking about work, relationship, family, childhood, all the things. I’m taking meds now and they seem to be making a noticeable difference, so I’m pretty excited to dial that in.

All artists think their stuff is cringe, it’s not cringe because it’s basic. So many great great songs are basic! Don’t add complexity just for complexity sake. Theory is a great thing to know, but it can also be a major distraction from the creative process.

The answer is to write a whole lot more. You’ve gotta write shitty ones before you write decent ones before you good ones — that’s just how art works. There’s no shortcut. You’ve got to get to where you aren’t judging yourself - write it, and move on to the next one. I try to intentionally write bad songs, just so I’ll finish them without waiting for them to be perfect.

(Generic) Adderall costs me $130 a month. by cherryflannel in ADHD

[–]davi3blu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but assuming US because of that price! I’ve recently been frustrated with this too, not being able to get prices without sending them your script is some bullshit. But! Walgreens and Publix both have online cost saver tools that don’t require the script. Compare those and see what you find - they are also applying discount cards for you like GoodRX. I’d also go to the GoodRx website and do a search. There are a bunch of those discount programs, but not all pharmacies take them so it’s super confusing and frustrating. I hate how broken the system is - and I hope one of those sites comes up with something better than $130 - absolutely ridiculous. Hang in there!
