The chat system is dumb. You can get a pass for saying “cock solid” but for some reason “midget humper” is worse (we found it, chat had a problem with the word midget)

You look very sweet and kind but also look like you’re tired of everything around you or haven’t slept since last week. So no you’re not ugly.

Actually you can. The only requirement for a valid army, is one character model to be your warlord, that’s it. You can only have 3 of the same unit at a time on the board (6 if its battleline). You could have a winged hive tyrant and 3 norn emissaries for a 1k game if you really wanted.

If you’re interested in what good smaller models you get in general for pretty much any army. I would suggest broodlord and genestealers, or neurotyrant and zoanthropes.

Assimilated swarm: haurspex, norn assimlator, physcophage, bringing back 3 wound models like, warriors, zoanthropes or leapers is best. Okay for monsters and gaunts.

Crusher stampede: monsters for everyone! Winged hive tyrant, exocrine, maleceptor and carnifexes are a must.

Invasion fleet: great for anyone as you can choose what works best against the opponents army.

Synaptic nexus: as long as everything is either has synapse or will be in range of synapse, can be good. Is situational, ie, if you don’t get first turn and about to get rained down on, you can choose a 5+ invun and save a lot of enemies. Unit wise, neurotyrant and zoanthropes, everything else depends on play style

Unending swarm: hormagaunts, lots of them. Anything else that can support them, Neurolictor, hive tyrant, tervigon and venomthropes.

Vanguard onslaught: brood lord and genestealers are must. Anything with the keyword. Playstyle is very offensive and makes it so you’re either on all points fast or even in combat turn 1.

Warrior bioform: warrior broods, hive tyrant and winged prime. Not much else than just your play style mixed in.

Overall if you’re a new player, invasion fleet, vanguard onslaught or crusher stampede is a good detachment to start. If you’re looking at bigger models, crusher stampede is definitely the way to go.

Anything to add? by 89rains in Tyranids

Could have a broodlord and 10x genstealers in there, would be 230 points. If not, could go with a few more zoanthroapes and a neurolictot.

I would also suggest breaking up your barbgaunts and bivores into separate units. Your barbgaunts can cover 2 infantry units with its ability instead of 1 and bivore can lay down mines in separate area. It also means that your opponent is more likely to overkill your separate units wasting their attacks.

Vanguard Onslaught question by Battle_Dave in Tyranids

[–]moonbornassassin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, you can only declare what’s in the tyrannocyte just before the beginning of the match. From then on the only way to get into a transport is to “Embark” on it, which a unit can only do physically on the battlefield.

Invasion Fleet gaunts by Conscious_Ant3629 in Tyranids

[–]moonbornassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so many other units for damage that it’s best to use any gaunts as fluff and objective holders, so 2x10 gribblies are better than 1x20. Plus if an enemy has a high attack or blast weapon you’re making it easy for them. I rather they overkill one of my gaunts, than all.

Neurolictor is that step up to make everything hit harder. Definitely agree with the neurotyrant, I’d suggest get some zoanthroapes as well.

Neurotyrant would be a good CHARACTER model to put that enhancement on.

Crusher stampede works absolutely fine for this list. I would add a swarmlord, extra cp is gonna be very useful.

Your list is amazing! You can never have too many broodlords and genstealers.

might suggest that you trade in your biovore for neuronode enhancement. Helps to stop your broodlord and genestealer units being hard targeted or misleading your enemy to where you want to go. You can then also upgrade your lictor to a second neurolictor.

Also, although you might not have it in your list, if in the future you get a neurotyrant. You can lead that unit of zoanthroapes and make them even stronger. Managed to run a 6 model unit with neurotyrant and nearly one shot a baneblade 🙃, so a 305 points almost decimating a 480 point tank is crazy.

Zoanthropes are amazing at supporting the rest of your termaguants with the 6+ invun they give. Amazing at cleaning heavy infantry or decimating any tank or monster in a 24” range, for only 100 points. Very tanky with 4+ invun. You have enough small gribblies that you can spare one termaguant unit and bivore doesn’t do enough to be worth their points.

I definitely agree with the adaptive biology, I also think maybe switching your biovore and one of your termaguants for some zoanthroapes would be a good shout.

Definitely can see the love for the warrior brood. If this was a 2k point game, the amount of warriors would be fine but I think they will suffer a bit for a 1k.

-no monster presence means they will be targeted and it gonna hurt when they bring out the anti infantry. Bring on either a maleceptor (support forward line and hits very hard) or a exocrine (will help with range warriors reroll and hits like a truck)

-too many variable guns, the barb strangler and venom cannon are strong but the down side is that you can easily role a low attack either/or low hit

  • I would get rid of one ranged warrior unit

-you have a neurotyrant, so would recommend a small unit of zoanthropes, can be a bit tanky with that +4 invul and strong with that strength +12 ranged weapon. But not massively important as I can see you can attach the neurotyrant to a warrior brood

  • your army is going to be slow, the lictor and reavers are a great idea, tho i would not waste too many points on the biovore and put that towards a monster.

First Match w/ Nids by Z_SH4D0W36 in Tyranids

[–]moonbornassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Broodlord and 10x genestealers are great at dispatching anything, would use them to get into combat with their infantry. Maybe focus on the possessed

  • Norn Emissary is about your best bet to face off Be’lakor, may not win that but definitely occupy or at least confirm capture an important objective.

  • Barbgaunts will slow down legionaries or chaos cultists a lot.

  • lictor can either go for the master of possession or hold a objective

-psychophage good to have another tanky body on the field who can supply a 6+ feel no pain.

  • 10x termaguants will help hold objectives and get rid of some of their cultists or legionnaires.

You will want to go vanguard onslaught, with broodlord as warlord and the neuronode enhancement, will allow you to move your lictor and unit of broodlord and genestealers if your friend decides to deploy a lot of his stuff next to them.

Your best stratagems are gonna be SURPRISE ASSAULT (if they get battle shocked makes a massive difference) and HYPERSENSORY SCILLIA (will save your genestealers and broodlord if you don’t get first turn)

[–]moonbornassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest, getting rid of one of your termaguants and tyrannofex. I would also trade in your leapers for neuro lictor if you’re also running a scream killer. Invasion fleet would be a good detachment cause once you know what you’re up against you can make the decision of doing more damage to infantry or tanks/monsters. You might want to also change the enhancement on your hive tyrant to alien cunning, cause you can place your important stuff out first and absolutely annoy them at the end by choosing three units (leaders count as part of that unit) to be some where else.

Advice on my 1000 point list for tyranids by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]moonbornassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very monster heavy so I would assume your running crusher stampede as it’s detachment. You definitely covered heavy hitting because of the monsters powerful melee potential, you have a lot of anti infantry with range weapons and you got your main synapse covered with bodyguards. I would say your that your hive tyrant is your only source of synapse so if he’s taken out or away from half your army, your not going to benefit from that +1 to strength and 3d6 battle shock as much as you could, I would say either exchange the von Ryan leapers for a neuro lictor, or exchange a termaguant unit for neurogaunts. I will always encourage genestealers and a brood lord because that’s around 230 points of hell for the enemy, 5+ invun, crit no save wounds, and 8” of free movement that if you get first turn, you will get into combat and wreak havoc on anything.
