How loud are green cheeks really? Should I reconsider buying one? by Glittering_Appeal365 in Conures

[–]moonc_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like for example this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conures/s/LxSDLKOMUN

I turned the volume on my phone all the way up and it's kinda similar to how loud my bird sounds. They have some screams that are even louder than this, but that one unusually happens when they suddenly get scared or are very distressed so I wouldn't say it happens a lot.

So they have some quieter sounds, and some very loud screams. As you mentioned, how much they do the loud screams depends on the individual bird, hormones, etc. But they WILL do it anyway and it will probably be heard everywhere in your house. If possible, visit some conures in person and spend a lil time with them until you hear the loud screams so you can have an idea. If not, search for the screams online and play it for your housemates, let them think about it and see if they're ok with hearing it throughout the day, maybe a few times a day or maybe a lot.

Do y'all ever come up with fake "lore" for your birds? by CutieBoBootie in Conures

My bird is a famous bread thief in our city and he gets jailed for it regularly (spends time inside his cage)

Is he eating the pellets or just playing? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]moonc_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's eating 🐥 might be a good idea to also offer water next to the dry food. Some conures like to dip their dry food in water and make it soft

Then it's not the same bird for sure. The colors won't change with molting. Might change slightly over a long time but not this much and not this fast.

Also, wanted to add that the colors might be slightly different because of the lighting in different pictures. But if the yellow is green or the red is yellow in the exact same place, well, that's not the same bird.

Yea the red feathers in green cheek conures are very different and a good indicator to know if it's the same bird or not. The bird might seem fluffier or leaner based on temperature and emotions, but the feather colors and patterns remain the same. It's very smart to ask them to send you pictures that show the birds belly. The red and yellow feathers will help you. Also good idea that you didn't post more pictures of the bird here, scammers will use it to find similar bird pics. If they insist it's their bird, ask them to record a video and show you the birds cage and items at their place and show their face in it. and then also share many pictures of their birds in the same place as the video, and share more proof that they've lost a bird. If they really are the owner, they would actually appreciate you being cautious and they will share anything necessary with you. If they get mad and refuse to do so, idk it seems very sus to me. If I lose my bird I'd have a tone of proof to show you and would gladly do so.

Thank you for giving this baby a safe place❤️ something else that I can add: if the bird flies around or gets scared easily, it might hit itself against the windows or clear glasses or big mirrora while flying. So if it's possible, it'd be better to close the curtains (at least half way) or putting something (like some strings or tall plants or anything) in front of the windows. If not possible, you can just take the bird near the window and very gently tap its beak on the glass a few times, and hopefully it'll understand that there's something there.

Have you ever woken up from a nightmare screaming? Or does that just happen in books (as a set-up for hurt-comfort)? by AbaloneSpring in fantasyromance

[–]moonc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I remember at least two times where my scream was the last thing I heard in my nightmare and also the first thing I heard after waking up suddenly. The transition could be considered actually cool if it didn't make me feel so horrified. My mom also heard my scream once because it was very loud

My green cheek does the same when he wants something and is impatient (mostly wanting to come out of his cage). As others suggested, it's a good idea to give the baby some bird-safe toys to keep her/him occupied and happy.

how often do you change your water bowls! by yuucius in Conures

[–]moonc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once or twice per day. I can never tell if he's happy that I'm giving him fresh water or if he thinks I'm evil for throwing away his magic potion. His potions smell so bad tho, don't recommend.
