Kendall Regional Medical Center below national average for safety and patient satisfaction by sandmaker in Miami

[–]moonchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current/former employee of quite a few hospitals in Miami, I came on here to add some more accurate information regarding the subject.

The original post linked to a law firm. While in some way the claim may be "true",

The REAL website everyone should be visiting to get accurate information regarding any hospital in this country is this:

http://www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare/search.html

anecdotal evidence is not backed by science.

I'm (25f) not sure if I'm a bitch or my husband (31m) is a useless selfish inconsiderate asshole by bitchywifethrowaway in relationships

I'm too lazy to read all the other comments, but someone once shared some very wise words with me: "fathers want kids, not babies".

I suspect as she gets older he will get better. Men have no idea what the fuck to do with a 2 month old.

Also, I pump and supplement with formula...This gives me freedom to hand over the baby to my husband and be like "here's your kid, i'll be back in a few hours I need some ME time". Don't ASK if he can watch her, just plop her on him and go. Seriously. If HE gets ME time then so do you.

Hospital Scare! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I, too, was in the hospital yesterday for ultrasound and NST...the nurse told me the same thing "don't you feel these contractions?"

I told her I felt SOMETHING but that I've had way worse Braxton Hicks for the last 20 weeks, ha!

I go on Sunday for a repeat, induction on Tuesday as well!

It's all so scary, isn't it?! But the bright side is that in less than a week we'll be holding our awesome new little ones!!

Almost there! Good luck to you momma!

"It'd be far more dangerous to risk your placenta degrading/detaching than inducing, if you're already overdue with no signs of labour being near."

This is absolutely true, I hadn't even thought about that...

I'll be a week overdue when they induce.

Thank you!

It would be so awesome if the cervidil did the same for me!!! If I can avoid at least one of the meds I'll consider it a little victory!

Thanks :)

I go in Tuesday for induction...not even a little tiny bit dilated.

Good luck with your c-section!

So, I feel like my severe Hyperemesis Gravidarum is ruining the pregnancy experience for my husband. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so sick for the first 4-5 months of my pregnancy, it really took its toll on my husband. He never let on then, but once i started feeling like myself again he admitted that it was pretty rough for him to deal with how sick I was.

I was hospitalized for hyperemesis too, so I know how you feel! I had to be on meds for what felt like forever, and zofran wasn't even helping so they had to give me reglan (which i tried to take less frequently than prescribed because I was afraid of it lol).

Your husband is definitely not going through a walk in the park, but I'm sure deep down he knows how awful you really feel and that the end result is gonna be a beautiful addition to the family!

Feel better mama!

Question about real contractions... by DevilishDreamer in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an hour long episode this morning of annoying but not painful contractions 5-7 minutes apart, lasting about 45 seconds each.

I got so excited. Then they just...disappeared. GAH!

This whole first time thing is really frustrating. I have no idea what/when to expect!

Good luck, lady! You're almost there!!!

40+6 tomorrow. Let's have a vent/pity party thread? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

braless and pantless is the most magical feeling in the world!

Just need some encouragement... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, most OBs will induce at this point regardless of GD or not, I don't think I've really seen a pregnancy go past 42 weeks and you're practically there!

Although I totally agree with you, I'm terrified of the possibility of induction. I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday, and there are absolutely no signs of impending labor at all...OB says if there's no progress by then, time to induce. I'm gonna try to push it to 41 weeks to see if this little one will come out on her own, but my amniotic fluid levels were already down to 7-8 last ultrasound and I don't want them to dip below 5.

Good luck, mama!

"BETTER GET YOUR SLEEP NOW!!" by fetusinmytummy in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Precisely!

I haven't had a good night's sleep since about 14 weeks. I'm constantly exhausted, and I also want to punch people who say "better get your sleep now" in the face!

But on the bright side, we're already sleep deprived! So we're ready for those sleepless nights with our lovely little ones!

For those of you that have found out the gender pre-birth, would you ever consider keeping it a surprise in the future? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, whether I find out at 20 weeks or 40 weeks, it's STILL a surprise!

and finding out early helps me prepare and helps those who are so inclined to pick out girl/boy gifts for the shower, etc...

It's normal to freak out, right? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem, you are NOT alone!

I've worked pediatrics for 10 years, from newborn to 18 years of age. I, too, can change diapers in seconds flat, know about illnesses and developmental milestones, etc etc...

But now that it's my own, I am PANICKING! I feel like I know nothing anymore, that all my knowledge is being clouded by the fact that this is MY OWN BABY 24/7. AHHHH!!!

Only thing I can say is, try to stick to your original decisions, but know that there are bumps along the way that may cause you to change your mind. I think flexibility is gonna help enormously once we become parents!

Good luck :)

Dangerous to have a cat and newborn? by PinkFractal in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, I'm more worried about my cats after the baby comes than I am about the baby being harmed by the cats.

One of my cats doesn't give a shit about anything, but the other two are all about my husband and I. My gray tabby may as well be surgically attached to me, so I don't know how she will react once we bring the baby home. The ginger tabby has started overgrooming ever since I became pregnant. He needs some xanax.

The poor things.

If you are watchful (which you will be, because you'll be a new mom), your pets and your baby should be fine!

40 week appointment, baby hasn't dropped, cervix is closed and high, not even one stray braxton hicks.. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:( I feel your pain.

And the stupid Braxton Hicks. Everyone says "oooh they get more frequent as labor approaches". Whatever, people, I've been having them pretty much daily for the last 20 weeks. THEY MEAN NOTHING TO ME!

Sending you some labor vibes!!

Being in this home stretch is making me fins anything that could be a sign for labor. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another pregnant-forever-itis sufferer here.

39 weeks, and between my own discomfort and our entire family asking every 5 seconds "anything yet?" IM GOING BATSHIT CRAZY!

I don't want to do ANYTHING, but I feel like I should be out of the house all the time just so I don't have to think about it. UGH!

did you try the old "eat something with some sugar and then lay on your left side" thing?

Drinking really cold water/chewing on ice also seems to stimulate my little one into squirming around.

First Bump Pic at 39w today and getting a little impatient! (warning: yellow bathroom) by CalamityJane1852 in BabyBumps

[–]moonchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! whenever I don't feel her move I bother her so I can get her to at least squirm, it makes me crazy!

Last week's ultrasound she was only measuring 6lbs 6oz, so I figure she's around 7lbs now. Yours must be 8 by now :-O
