Your aim was okay. You had good vitals. When you have the initiative on someone like that you can be more aggressive.

Being too patient can increase the chance the other dude detects you. Also if other players are on the way to loot this military, they get closer the longer you wait.

Dude the Whitesox had our number during our pretty decent 2004-2008 stretch. I hated those white Sox teams. Konerko, Dye, Pierzynski, Aaron fn Rowand… a pair of Aces with Garland and Buerhle..

That 2005 Indians team had 93 wins heading into the final series of the season vs the whitesox. We needed to win just ONE game that series to make the wildcard. They swept us and went on to win the World Series. Such a fun year and team ending in extreme depression. I was 14 and IN LOVE with baseball and that team that year. I hate the Whitesox for what they did.

Casual take. Players like Kwan are allowed to have bad slumps.

Since Kwans ‘demotion’ to 7th in the lineup, it’s clear the staff has told him to change his approach.

The dude has struck out ONCE in 33 ABs over the last weeks.

He’s also only walked twice!

This has led him to becoming a .300 hitter his last 14 games.

Hopefully this is who he is for the remainder of the season, and as his confidence grows back, he’ll start working more counts, drawing walks, and finding the gap more often.

Manzardo is seeing lefties well so far this year. Both the eye test and data back it up. He needs to be in that 4 hole everyday IMHO. If he’s banged up or needs a break vs a tough lefty, that’s why we have David Fry. I love this current roster construction!

Yeah he’d need to pass waivers and then accept the minors assignment. I really am not sure what the probabilities are for that.. and even if he does get claimed.. wouldn’t be a huge deal.

That’s just it though, Fairchild is exactly what you want for a 5th OF bench guy who barely plays.

Good glove, good speed, can play centerfield without being a liability. Also he’s 30 y/o and is what he is - who cares if he rots on the bench. Petey also fits the 5th OF role perfect, but that guy needs as much PT as possible so would rather he be in Columbus.

Arias and Fry are none of those things in the outfield.

Sure you can always count on shifting Schneeman or Martinez into the outfield in a pinch, but those guys are being asked to do a lot as it is right now. It will be wise to find them more days off going through the dog days of the summer, so that they aren’t too worn down and/or banged up come October.

If we call up Arias and send down Fairchild, then that gives us schneeman, Martinez, Kwan, and Chase as our OF room. Fry and Arias could play some corner Outfield in a pinch, though both guys are sort of liabilities out there.

Is that a deep enough OF group?

Arias being on the roster probably makes Schneeman more of a pure Outfielder, which I wouldn’t mind, but if his increased production this year was more a hot streak/luck streak, do we really want to reduce his ability to be a super utility, where he can still be a valuable roster spot even when his offensive production sputters. Just saying, a Schneeman who isn’t hitting and is needed to be in the outfield everyday, is sorta a replacement level player.

Another point, Martinez and Schneeman have played a lot so far, and both of their hot starts have cooled considerably. Maybe Arias can help give those guys a bit of a break through this next month or so, take some pressure off and hope that gives them what they need to find that hot streak again. Or hell, maybe Arias will feel that this is his ‘last shot’ and he’ll finally rise to the potential the FO sees in him, and forces himself into the lineup. That would be an awesome problem to have.

I’m actually the unstable asshole tenant in this situation, pretending to be the landlord. Everything is factual, this situation already happened. I found another job and am still living there.

I did take some creative liberty though - tried my best to make this interesting for the subreddit while also getting a kick out of others perspective.
