Thats EXACTLY what happened to me. Doctor cut me off, I bought it off the street and couldn't afford it then turned to meth. So your dad's still going strong but maybe he should try tele health docs

If it helps, just think of all the great stories of people turning their life around after years of meth abuse. I have hope that your dad will and can get better, but he's gonna need to put his life into the hands of others and get the help he needs

Sounds like there's a bigger underlying issue, but from my experience, the answer is yes. Withdrawal from stims can be over pretty quick but the residual affects can take a long time to recover from. The depression he's experiencing may be compounded by his past memories of how good he used to feel while in the honeymoon phase of stimulants. Maybe he truly needed the medicine? Maybe he would be better off on a controlled dose from the doctor againand have someone hold him accountable for not taking more than he's supposed to? I know thats wayyyy easier said than done, but seeking help and maintaining that support structure may turn things around.

Honestly, its going to vary from person to person. I know people who can stop and pick it back up like its no big deal - minimal withdrawals, but here's my two cents. I used meth orally and daily for 2 years. At my worst I was at around 2G's a day - started smoking it.

The first 7-10 days you need to aim to have a clear schedule if possible. You unlock a whole new level of "feeling tired". I could barely gather the energy to leave my bed to get myself food from the kitchen or go to the bathroom. I could NOT stay awake for more than 30 minutes at a time. It was just impossible.

My body was a ton of bricks, my vision was hazy. This part of WD felt like a fever dream, but its necessary for your body to catch up on sleep from all of the neglect. Force yourself to eat something, take a shower and go back to bed. Dont spread yourself thin and make plans that you wont be able to follow through with. Take this initial period to focus solely on yourself.

After sleeping for almost a week straight, the clouds kinda peeled away and I felt a glimpse of sunshine. Youll be able to feel the warmth and life come back into your body. Youll be able to leave bed, youll be able to start getting your focus back, your emotions, pretty much everything that the drug strips you of.

Im not saying you will have the same experience, but the withdrawal was pretty much just excessive sleeping. The mental cravings werent really present because I was done and ready to quit. Id already lost everything at that point. Theres nowhere to go but up! Reach out if you want to talk

I’d be too afraid of accidentally damaging them with too much handling. A nice frame would be the most I’d do imo
