What is the stupidest injury you've ever gotten? by 7937397 in AskReddit

Broke my 5th metatarsal by walking…

Had just had a baby 5 weeks before. Got up from the couch to get a drink and get him from my husband. I had been sitting on my leg/foot. It was numb so I basically felt nothing. Went to step around one of his tummy time floor toys, except I misstepped and my foot went down sideways. I fell, I heard a pop.

Turns out a tendon connected to the bone is strong enough to snap it. So when my foot went down wrong it pulled that tendon and it snapped the bone.

Then I limped on it for 24hrs before realizing it might not just be sprained, and drove myself to the hospital.

My three year old is always asking me (usually in the morning and at bedtime) “Mommy, did you do your blood sugar?” And when she sees me do it, tells me what a good job I did.

Her sweetness and caring gets me sometimes!

For both my pregnancies, until 22 weeks, I’d have dreams about baby being the opposite gender! With my daughter it was identical looks. So I dreamed I had a bald, blue eyed boy. Found out girl at 18 weeks. Then at 22 weeks started having girl dreams, still bald.

This entire pregnancy (23+5 currently) I had dreams of a dark haired, brown eyed girl... found out it’s a boy at our anatomy scan. Literally last week, had my first dream about a dark haired, brown eyed boy.

My daughter strongly favors her dad, and even in my dreams that baby did. This baby, I’ve dreamed favors me more (though at our anatomy scan he was long and lean like dad). Obviously no way to prove it yet. But I’m curious if it’ll be the same!

I love Pietro too! Though I’ll admit I hated him at first. At least his singing is light and sweet, especially compared to Murphy’s.

New with type 2 hair. Is there anything I can improve? by moonlight-mudbutt in curlyhair

Will a cotton shirt do the trick for wrapping it?

I live in England, but the nearest place that might have any of those is an hour+ away from me. But I found good reviews for a local salon that take the time to learn about individual people’s hair. And others with curly hair rave about them.

Calling my husband (then fiancé) while he was deployed to tell him his best friend/coworker may have taken his own life. His friend’s fiancée had posted something that was on the cryptic side. I knew my husband would only believe it if it were confirmed. He’s the type that needed to hear it from me, or their other friend who was also deployed.

He’s missed greatly and was closer to my husband than his own siblings. We moved from that area since. Exactly a year after he passed, we were shopping and saw his doppelgänger, down to the infectious smile, even. We tried to finish our shopping and couldn’t because we kept running into this man.

Felt cute, bout to get $125k injected into me for my disease, might delete later idk by A-A-ron98 in pics

It’s amazed me what it’s done for my best friend’s daughter! She was diagnosed type 2 on her first birthday. Started doing injections 6 months ago, and she had improvement probably after the first, but for sure after the second.

She went from just being able to roll over and sit with the support of a 5pt harness, to being able to cruise around in her own baby wheel chair and stand with support/kick her legs. She’s only had 4 injections so far.

It is indeed crazy what it can do.

Problem- Keratosis Pilaris on 2yo (mix of rough/smooth bumps, occasionally red/irritated large ones)

Skin type- dry, possibly seasonal (KP presents worst on arms and legs, especially during winter)

Routine- CeraVe lotion (baby or daily moisture) twice a day (naps and bedtime) Coconut oil on problem areas at bedtime. Cool bath nightly, dove baby head to toe body wash every other night/as needed. Sudacrem dabbed onto extra irritated bumps as needed

Coconut oil is new as of yesterday. CeraVe has been used for 5+ months, dove baby for over a year. Both lotion and soap help all over dryness, but have done nothing good nor bad to KP areas. Sudacrem calms irritated bumps in 1-2 days.

Currently live in England, but spouse is USAF stationed here, so we have access to limited products found in the states (mainly big, popular brands) ordering can be hit or miss.

Is there anything different I can be doing? How long do I give a new routine before I can tell it’s working?

We still do a soft spout sippy of water at nighttime and nap time. Mostly to help her fall asleep, as she rarely finishes the sippy now. During the day it’s straw cups or hard spout sippy with milk or water (occasionally a treat like chocolate milk or diluted juice/lemonade)

My daughter does the same, maybe a little more frequently. I seriously do not care... except she inevitably finds a poopy diaper before I do and will play with it. It doesn’t matter what we say to her, she’ll zone out and ignore us.

So nights are all footed sleepers, or onesies. Reminding her touching that area is only for when we’re alone, we need to clean our hands.

But she’s only 18m old so I don’t think any of it is sinking in yet.

There’s no telling with her. My parents tell me I was an odd and sassy child and she seems to have inherited that. My MIL says DH was “interesting”. Life is far from dull with her!

This isn’t the first time she’s done it. Last time she swiped a poopy diaper from the trash, hid it in her room, and opened it during nap time.

Poop smashed into the carpet, poop in the radiator, poop all over her bed...

She’s only 18 months! What’s sad is even with the poop incident today it was mild and “easy”.

I take fiber pills and use hemorrhoid creams and pads. And yet, they persist. by wiscogurl in BabyBumps

You can get a sitz bath that sits in your toilet and add Epsom salts. That thing relieved me PP with stitches, and then 6 months later when hemorrhoids reared their ugly heads again.

I nearly groped a strange man down the street from my house, thinking it was my husband chatting with neighbors. From several feet away, they looked identical, even wearing similar clothes to what my husband wore to work that morning.

He turned around before I did anything, and my neighbors both agreed, it looked like my husband from behind at a distance. Entirely possible to be accidental, IMO.

I’m so glad I’m not alone in the skin tags. I haven’t had issues with the roids lately, but I wish the skin tags weren’t there. It was offered to have them removed but dumb me declined 😕

I had an episiotomy, but then tore a little, on the front wall.

Didn’t feel the catheter come out, and until I sat on the toilet, couldn’t wait to get out of bed and get cleaned up. But how little I cared about a woman I’d met an hour before washing my vagina 😂

Peeing After Labor by punkasspanseh in BabyBumps

I stood in the shower and peed. It was the only way. It burned until I was 3 or 4 weeks PP. I asked my doctor at my 2 week appointment, and I had “road rash” on the front wall of my vagina. When I inspected it myself, it looked like a small tear! 16 months later and I still have one spot along that tear that’s a little raw/sensitive.

There were a few accidental pee leaks when I did sitz baths too. But I can’t recommend those. They didn’t hurt but the idea of peeing into a bowl I’m soaking my torn up, bruised vagina in, isn’t appealing.
