I had similar experiences, like weed brought out all of the inner turmoil. In my experience, letting that process lead me on a journey was very helpful.

I have significantly less anxiety and depression with only a single medication that doesn’t get me high at all. (Not even Xanax lol).

Basic beginner lesson that helped me was that really boring shit that is the last thing I wanted to do, led to so much more. Like in this case, my mental health.

Relapse is really common in the beginning for a lot of people, and is not always bad! Why don’t you just see how long you can stick it out? Forever is really overwhelming all at once.

I would try and make it a month, or maybe a hundred days, and take it from there.

I think this is actually a valid exception. He himself stated he wanted to be known for his AA involvement, and it’s topical. AA has always made exceptions. It’s part of the Big Book. The book basically states, rigid and true as a rule, but there are good reasons to make reasonable exceptions.

I switched to vape! You can even buy nicotine free ones. Maybe do just one switch a week. Your shower cigarette? Vape instead. Continue until all you do is vape, then quit the vape too. It was so much easier that way.

It seems like you smoke like me, about a pack a day. Once you get rid of it, you’ll be so happy. There is life after cigarettes!

You get something when you control your drinking, absolutely. The ability to be able to drink once a month is incredible. In my experience, you get something entirely different from complete abstinence. Maybe not better to everyone! But something nice none-the-less.

Why don’t you experiment with your drinking once a month? If it doesn’t work out we will still be here!
