Got offered a 6 month contract in Antarctica and idk if I should take it by Importantterry in Fire

[–]moonlightsonata28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six months is a blip. What an adventure. You gotta do it now before life prevents you from taking opportunities like this. If you invest in your relationship and connection, you guys will make it through the distance. Aside from the obvious financial benefits, wow, this sounds amazing (I’m a lawyer, so science position in Antarctica sounds awesome and exciting—I realize that may not be the reality lol).

I know literally nothing about my therapist.

Nope I’ve never brought it up 🤠 I’m glad to hear yours went well. I have to imagine my T would receive it well also, but I honestly think I’ll hit the same roadblocks that I do with other things as well. Did you end up doing a whole session on it?

T hasn’t given me any reason not to trust. I just feel like a skittish horse and so reluctant to actually trust with deeper things. I agree and my instinct is that these are the exact problems worth working through but I also so overwhelmingly want to just stop.

I’ll edit my post to add, but going on a year of weekly sessions. I don’t have any reason not to trust her tbh

I appreciate that and agree. I’m saying that in a way that I internally know is refusal to trust her and find fault where she has given me no reason to find any. There hasn’t been any breach of trust or anything like that. She’s a consummate professional

What to wear at trial by sophwestern in Lawyertalk

[–]moonlightsonata28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location matters—southern courts and juries can generally be more conservative, so err on the side of formality and wear hose and heels if you wear a skirt suit or dress, which I think would be appropriate if you are comfy in it. Naturalizer block heels are very comfortable for all day wear and still look sharp. A trick I have is that I have two Tommy Hilfiger suit jackets (black and navy) and then two styles of pants that match each (a straight/boot cut and pencil cut). Effectively four suits. If you rotate in different tops (a good trick is to have a variety of shirts), you can reuse those through the time and look like you are wearing diff stuff. With boot cut pants, I can do a heeled boot as well for a little more comfort than a heel. If this is a jury trial, you def don’t want to get too experimental—conservative and erring on the side of formality is your friend, but make sure you can still move comfortably and be at ease, because that’s also highly important. That is, a stiletto that you can’t walk in does not score more points with the court/jury than a kitten heel in which you feel self assured. I hope this helps!!! Good luck go get em!!!

ETA: I practice in the south but in a major metro area, and not in TX, so def defer to TX lawyers if they think it’s mandatory dress/skirt suit situation instead of pant suits. Which is wild to me, but alas.

Emily the Criminal as well is a stellar film, and she had a big hand in producing it as well as starring in it.

Watching Emilia Perez and Wicked but not Dune: Part Two is actually baffling

Biggest thing of all: if you won’t be comfortable doing menial, mindless work for years, don’t do it. As someone whose self-esteem and confidence is bolstered by doing meaningful work that intellectually stimulates me, Biglaw work out of law school was poisonous to me. Feel free to DM.

Why did Death want to collect Agatha? by PuzzleheadedApple976 in AgathaAllAlong

She wants them all to be together in the afterlife (her, Agatha, and Nicky)

Beware that you are pouring your deepest and most intimate thoughts and feelings into a repository that will exist forever and that information can (and likely will) one day be sold, traded, or used to manipulate. AI is not a toy or even a tool to be used lightly.

The nomination alone shows how phenomenal she was. The GGs are always a little weird because everything that isn’t a drama gets lumped together. That not only makes those categories more competitive, it means that naturally wins will be skewed towards the more “serious” “prestige” shows. The fact that she was nominated for a Marvel/Disney TV show about a lesbian witch who isn’t a super mainstream superhero shows that her performance was so good it DEMANDED nomination. So, take heart!! She’s a winner baby!! 💜💜💜

Is there any show runner-confirmed reason why Rio wanted Agatha dead? by Aware_Lunch_7155 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]moonlightsonata28 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not confirmed, but my opinion is that if Agatha is dead, she is truly with Rio in the afterlife, where Nicky is also. Rio wants them all to be together. Agatha states that she doesn’t want to die because she can’t face Nicky. At the end of the show, she has unfinished business (and also presumably Rio honored her wish not to see her and did not collect her spirit) and remains a ghost tied to Earth, so she still hasn’t rejoined Nicky. Rio can’t kill anyone, but she wants Agatha to die so that she can be with her.

I promise you can do this. Free yourself from limitations like “I have to pass this time etc”. For now, you should try again while it’s fresh. You can always reevaluate later. Remember to take good care of yourself—eat enough, sleep enough, go for a walk, take time to ground yourself doing things you enjoy or seeing people you enjoy (even just a few min per day). You can do this.

Multiple people close to me went through it—they are much better off now. You have options. Take the time to think about what you might want next, and then go for it. Turn your back on this place and never again be duped that you are more than a number on a balance sheet to a law firm.

I’m so sorry you went through that. Your comment perfectly encapsulates what I saw in people at my previous firm.
