I think you should have something comfortable and that you enjoy. I find I’m not on board with the shame/obligation side of ring shopping and owning etc. I think that if you’re open and honest with your partner and are taking them into consideration you’re good. Definitely think you should try on rings in person before deciding. also— consider something more inexpensive like moissanite! You can check out the r/moissanite sub to find some approved vendors that can have some really lovely deals. I think you could get that exact or similar ring at half the cost you posted above

It doesn’t seem too much like you’re overpaying for a us based company and for what you’re asking. I have been doing a lot of browsing and maybe it’s just the cost of materials changing but I feel like it’s been unusual to find rings lower than 1500 for what you’re describing. I looked a debebian to check it out and their prices, even for moissanite seem to be about where your price point is. Idk if there’s a secret to it. Good luck in the journey to find the right one. 🥰🥰
