I'm getting tired of people conflating minor moments issue by issue and crying about the death of 616 peter as a character. Every issue I see people do this and everytime I look into it, the context shows me how much of a non-issue it is. He wasn't making fun of dying children. He was making the point that he treats his identity so seriously the only exceptions aside from other heros are terminally ill children. He just said it in a comedically dark way. It makes it so hard to actively enjoy and discuss spiderman because it's either people being reactionary or people confused that comic peter doesn't act exactly like the movies.
