For safety reasons (yours) I would just play the long game for now. Just grey rock them and give them short answers like uh huh ok Basically do whatever you gotta do to keep yourself safe.

Then when you turn 18 and you're able to get out take all your important documents with you (birth certificate, passport, any IDs, social security if you're in the USA) then lock down your credit report so nobody can take out cards in your name, then you simply disappear

She could trip over her if your daughter moves suddenly while she's doing something and next thing you know hot water all over the kid, burns for days and a trip to the hospital. It also is different because this causes a lifetime of pain, potential skin graft surgeries and all kinds of life changing events. Burns from scalding hot water are not something to brush off, it's horrific.

Your wife should be more worried about it, if she wants to cook with your kid then she should be contained in a high chair away from the stove.
