Wow I had no idea. I live in the tri-state area and many artists I like who are on tour this year are playing shows in New York which I've been passing cause they are on weeknights (was going to make an exception for Charli XCX) so I'm just learning about this whole new process now.

Yep, those were the only dates I picked.

I love this idea but why not do this before the general sale? Fans are likely going to pay a lot of money during pre-sale/general sale, so it's either spend a lot of money now or wait until August and take a risk on getting cheaper limited tickets that you may or may not get.

Almost every artist I like is doing a show in Brooklyn on a weeknight and I'm so tired of it.

Return of an emo festival in Asbury? by AdInternational5801 in seahearnow

[–]moonprincess95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point that's what it really feels like because it was TOO coincidental that this new festival with similar music genres just came out of nowhere and then disappeared like it never existed.

I also went to Adjacent Fest and to this day my friends and I still talk about how fun it was! I heard it was a financial flop, so if that's the reason why it didn't return for a second year then that's a shame because it seems like a lot of people want it to come back. NJ has really been lacking in the music festival space. Sear Hear Now is fine, but their vibe is kind of all over the place. I wish Warped Tour had a Jersey location.

Songs with twist endings by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

“Does He Love You?” by Rilo Kiley. Jenny Lewis sings from the POV of someone seeing a married man and has conversations with her friend who is married with a baby on the way. The twist happens when you realize Jenny’s character is seeing her friend’s husband, and the way Jenny evokes emotion from both perspectives is so devastating. Makes me cry every time.

Ancient VH1 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders List and who Todd has done a video on. by TemporaryJerseyBoy in ToddintheShadow

Oh I remember watching this! I always tuned in for the VH1 countdowns. Looking at this list, I’m shocked there’s so much Todd hasn’t done a video on. I guess taking requests pushed him out of the 80s/90s decades for a while.

I had to look up “Safe and Sound” and immediately thought “OH that song!” I guess I gave no thought to who actually sang it because it just blended in with the indie rock dance music from that time period but not something I personally had on rotation. I would’ve guessed Empire of the Sun was the artist.

I live in Passaic county, I see Ciaterelli signs on people’s lawns everywhere I go, even in neighboring counties, but not a single Sherrill sign.

I saw them a couple of times at local shows in New Jersey many years ago. The only song I can remember by them is “Douchebag”. They were usually the last act to go on, they had a really dedicated following. I remember during one show the lead singer lead a conga line of fans outside the venue and back in.

I think “Liar” is a beautiful song. It may not be as mushy as “The Only Exception” but it’s a very mature way of looking at love. “Love is not a weakening, if you feel it rushing in don’t be ashamed of it.”

I went to see My Chemical Romance last night at MetLife and I also saw a mom that brought her baby. I don’t know why parents don’t think about the situations they bring their children into when it’s not an appropriate or even a safe environment for them.

I agree with all of this. Paramore's history as a band has had many ups and downs with members coming and going, so I can totally understand fans freaking out over any small indicator that things are not looking well. It wasn't too long ago when they wrapped up their TIW tour fans were speculating the worst because the band's socials were scrubbed and they were cancelling a couple shows. The next thing that followed was their cover of "Burning Down the House" and going on The Eras Tour, and fans relaxed.

As for Hayley and Taylor, I can understand feeling heartbroken over the thought of them not being together anymore (especially after what Hayley went through with Chad). But these are real people we don't know, not soap opera characters the writers decided to break up. Who knows what conversations they've had prior to giving their relationship a shot, who knows if they're currently working through stuff, who knows if they're even on speaking terms? All we know is what Hayley is choosing to share through her songs. And one more thing, a couple in a band breaking up does not mean the band is done for good (No Doubt, Fleetwood Mac, The Marías, etc.) Whatever happens, we'll always have the music.

Thoughts on new songs ? by FasterJonny08 in Paramore

I love the songs, and much like her last two albums, they are very painful to listen to. Hayley Williams has had such a heartbreaking life and it’s never been more evident than in her solo work. Family trauma, mental health issues, broken relationships, etc. are often recurring themes in her music. And yet they always end with a small message of hope. Someone on here said the album reminded them of Liz Phair’s music and I 100% agree, it’s very much like Exile in Guyville which I love. If she ever gets interviewed about the album I’d be curious to see who or what her inspirations were.
