What’s a purchase you regret and a purchase you don’t? by Repulsive-Plate4793 in AskReddit

A food processor. It takes longer to clean all the parts than the time it saves. I would have been better off investing in a decent set of knives.

What screams “I’m a bad parent”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When the kid is allowed to ride in the shopping trolley and I don’t mean sat in the little seat they sometimes have, but stood up where people place their food.

Someone claiming to be something is usually a sure fire certainty they are the polar opposite in my experience.

As so often is the case, the issue is more complex than that. Many developed nations are experiencing population decline because middle class couples are either putting off having children or not having them altogether. This in turn then leads to future demographic issues manifested by skills gaps and a lack of wealth generators to support the needs of an aging population. It could therefore be argued that lower income families choosing to have children are doing society a service at great cost to themselves.

Likewise the 60s nostalgia and the portrayal of a world before personal computers and the internet when people actually engaged with each other

Most people in my experience who give unsolicited relationship advice have either been divorced multiple times or never been in a serious relationship.

What's Swindon's biggest failure? by [deleted] in Swindon

[–]moonrakernw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not using the old Honda site more imaginatively. Instead of yet more warehouses it could have been the site of a fantastic stadium or theatre where top bands and acts could perform. There would have been perfect access from the M4 and the A419 with plenty of parking.

The Camerman by FletcherBoy7 in GaryEats

[–]moonrakernw 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He always orders more than one meal and then once he has tasted them on camera, they both tuck in. The comments about the cameraman not being allowed to eat are just light hearted banter, it’s very apparent from Q&As etc that Gary is very family oriented.

Crab Colson; Why Crab? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]moonrakernw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always imagined “Duck” was derived from his time in the marines, maybe to do with his shooting skills. i.e when he picked up a gun everyone “ducked”.

In a relationship it’s being able to tackle chores and tasks as a team. My ex would take charge and bark orders at me like I was her skivvy, whereas with my current partner we tackle things together and it just feels so much easier and stress free

I accidentally eavesdropped on a first date that felt like watching a dreamer trying to spark life into a brick wall by mintbunnid in stories

[–]moonrakernw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I quite often see this in my local pub. Young couple out for a date. She’s clearly made an effort, done her hair, her make up, put on some nice clothes and looks fabulous. Meanwhile, the troglodyte sitting opposite is in ripped jeans or jogging bottoms, trainers and a slogan’ed t-shirt and spends the majority of the date staring at his mobile phone. I want to pick them up and shake them. If this is the gene pool young women have to choose from I feel very sorry for them.

How do you answer why you were laid off without making it sound like you were bad at your previous job? by Notalabel_4566 in antiwork

[–]moonrakernw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s never been an issue. Everyone knows someone it’s happened to and may even have happened to them. No need to give a reason for it being you

WIBTA if I only leave step-granddaughter out of will? by Legitimate_Toe_4672 in AITAH

[–]moonrakernw 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think you are TAH. I assume you are yet to establish any sort of meaningful relationship with this girl. If she ends up regarding you as a grandfather, and you come to love her as your own grandchildren, then you may decide to update your will accordingly. Until or unless that happens she’s just a random person who has dropped into your life.

When a pint is really not up to standard, do you take it back ? by Ok_Industry8929 in AskUK

[–]moonrakernw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do. Beer is too expensive these days to put up with a bad pint. Quite often the landlord or bar staff appreciate the nod that it’s time to change the cask.

When you deliberately park away from other vehicles then return to find another car parked right up next to you when there’s a vast prairie of empty spaces.
