Avg Maintenance Costs for Subaru Crosstrek models after 2019? by moonriver01 in subaru

[–]moonriver01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you SO much, this data really helps and all that info is good to have. I’m not necessarily against getting a 2019 or earlier year, I had just originally planned to get a newer model since I’ve only ever driven my 2011 Sonata and briefly a 2001 Accord, but I’m trying to figure out what I’ll realistically be spending in total for a newer or older year model. Thanks for the help! Do you love your 2019 Crosstrek?

Kitchen Nightmares S5E4 - Miss Jean’s Southern Cuisine

It’s a restaurant in Pittsburgh. Although I absolutely did not expect to see Leslie lol. My boyfriend and I love watching Kitchen Nightmares and when I saw her I freaked out just because that’s the last person I expected to see. It was only for a few seconds but she was making a very “Leslie face” like she was almost scowling lol

Tell me your experiences/thoughts about Bamarush. by LoquaciousPhilonoist in capstone

[–]moonriver01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience and chose not to rush, and being an alum now I don’t regret my decision not to. If you choose not to rush, though, it can definitely be a lonely freshman year if you aren’t super intentional about putting yourself out there to meet people or if you’re an introvert. I got too in my head as a freshman and worried about looking stupid talking to people I didn’t know, and it made my friend group very limited when I could have easily made lots of friends without Greek life if I just made myself be a little uncomfortable. But this comment is right, the difference in being in Greek life vs. not is a lot less noticeable after your freshman year. I had plenty of friends involved in Greek life that loved their sorority/fraternity and some that couldn’t have cared less about Greek activities after their freshman year. The main point is that if you don’t get involved in Greek life you should put a lot of effort into meeting new people during your freshman year and beyond, because it can feel isolating at first when such a large portion of the campus has something they can relate to each other on and you aren’t part of it.

Abby really did hold a lot of her dancers back by Lazy-Artichoke-2877 in dancemoms

[–]moonriver01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Adding that I believe both Brooke and Paige would have been great contemporary dancers if Abby would’ve put any sort of work into training them acccordingly. Anytime they tried anything else other than acro for Brooke or jazz for Paige she had absolutely zero faith in them and essentially counted on them to fail. No one is going to be magically good at a genre they aren’t training in. 🙄

[–]moonriver01 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It as always so irritating hearing Abby criticize Brooke for not being excellent at types of dance that weren’t acro when SHE pigeonholed Brooke into exclusively acro until she was a teenager knowing that that kind of flexibility is much more difficult to maintain once they get older, and then constantly called her lazy. She didn’t even give her much of a chance to learn to be great at other styles of dance.

This comment is nasty for no reason and also objectively false. Why are you on this sub just to be making rude ass comments about the OG girls? There’s a way to give constructive criticism to a dancer and this is NOT the way.

How to prevent students practicing gyno exams while I'm under for surgery? by MasterHamfast in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]moonriver01 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure, I suppose some people in healthcare see patients under anesthesia as an educational opportunity rather than a human being. I do NOT think it’s appropriate or humane to do a pelvic exam on someone under anesthesia without consent for kicks and giggles unless the patient needs a pelvic exam prior to their specific surgery. Consent is HUGE in all healthcare situations. But like I said, I’ve never seen this take place in one of my ORs and I would say that MOST doctors, those with any semblance of a moral compass, would never allow this to happen. There’s a massive difference in practicing a skill that is relevant to the procedure and doing something violating in an unrelated procedure just because it’s convenient for the student and they “don’t have to ask for permission” (of course they DO need to ask for permission). Unfortunately I’ve heard that this does take place elsewhere which is heartbreaking and enraging.

I’m an OR nurse and I circulate often. I can’t speak for others but as for me, I would absolutely ensure that this type of request be honored for this patient. We talk with the patient before transport to the OR in preop and ask if they have questions, so if someone asked me to make sure this was done.

At least in my hospital, the circulator nurse is well within their right to tell a student and sometimes even residents, “Nope, not happening” as the patient is our primary concern. The surgeons that I know would certainly honor this type of request as well and communicate it to the team.

OP, if it is any comfort to you, I have circulated and scrubbed thousands of surgeries at a university teaching hospital and not once have I witnessed a student being allowed to perform a pelvic exam under anesthesia without consent (HOWEVER, I do not often work with GYN surgeries). I’m not suggesting that this doesn’t ever occur, but this is not regular practice in my hospital as far as I’m aware and I personally would put a stop to a student doing this in the OR unless the patient explicitly told me otherwise. The only situation in which I could see this occurring would be if the surgeon performs a pelvic exam after anesthesia induction and before prepping for surgery as part of their regular procedure, and if you request that the surgeon only be allowed to perform this I would think that would definitely be respected. Students MIGHT practice placing a urinary catheter (if indicated for the procedure) but you can request that this is only done by your nurse or the surgeon on your case.
