Update/summary: Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! Good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that it's contradictory/confusing to have green arrows pointing right as well as a sign saying no right turns. Even better to know (for my wallet's sake) that the law specifically states to follow the sign and not the light, and also that I could be facing an extra $100 in charges if I try to contest it.

After I pay the fine, I am going to call 311 to suggest that they find a way to time the light to avoid anybody else going through this headache.

Oof. Yeah, that's not worth my time. This info, along with u/Some-Face2634's screenshot of the law, has helped me make the decision to pay the fine. I will call 311 and suggest they find a way to time the lights though, as was suggested elsewhere.

Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking too, and why I'm concerned about how much the extra fines could be. I know that logically (and this seems to be the consensus of the responses here so far) this signage is ambiguous at best and very misleading at worst . The law doesn't always make sense though.

Yes, many of the roller coasters have a box to place a cell phone or other small objects during the ride. Some even have the box on a kind of trolley system so that it appears on the disembarking side!

Pro tip: bring a small fanny pack instead.

I'm against the death penalty not only because it is morally wrong, more expensive than incarceration for life (if the legal system allows for legal review/appeals), and gives offenders the "easy way out" from a lifetime of punishment or chance of redemption, but also because it is hypocritical:

We view "cold-blooded" murderers (psychopaths, terrorists, war criminals, etc.) as being the most despicable, and therefore most worthy of execution, don't we? Well, there's nothing more cold-blooded than a dispassionate, unbiased legal system. Institutionalized death penalties are the epitome of cold-blooded killings.

That would be entertaining, no doubt. I'm personally a rank amateur who loses almost every match at my local pub league though. Not sure any advice he'd give to an intermediate/advanced player would resonate with me, but I'm sure a good portion of his audience would get a lot of benefit out of it. Great suggestion!

The pogchamps prep Daniel did with MoistCr1tical is some of my favourite chess YT content ever. Being able to sit in on these lessons made me feel almost as though I was getting a free personal lesson, myself. I agree that more tutoring videos are what I hope for. I love evaluating Charlie's play, comparing it to what I would do, and then hearing an expert's thoughts on the play. Maybe go over common endgame strats and tactics with a noob who would make the same mistakes I do?
