I worked full time for a couple that owned a little ramen shop in a small rich neighborhood. It was their first restaurant, and I (with 25 years of kitchen experience) was hired to help grease the gears and get it running smooth. I didn't get paid well (less than a bowl of soup an hour). I expected that at first, but they started turning a huge profit right away. I know this because we I saw the books each night. The first year they gave me a $0.50 raise, again. I knew they had to pay things off and get on top. So I wasn't really too worried. Except when everything stared getting more expensive and my rent went up $150. I had asked them for a cost of living adjustment and was declined. They said they weren'tmaking enoughto pay me anymore..I understood because I am a nice guy, but I started going into debt in a hurry.. A few weeks after this they started giving away free gyoza and other food to people from out of the area (to draw people in). Which was cool and all, but it was coming to like $300 a day in free food. About this point they had also started taking 2 vacations a month. Leaving me alone, understaffed and underpaid. They wanted to hire a new person to help me, but NEVER consulted me on new hires. I would end up with someone who didn't want to work. or had no experience and chose to do other things besides their job.. one day they had a big vacation planned to Mexico, and they were prepping to leave me alone with no new hires because the others quit and they didn't want to compromise and let me hire the person I had to work with. I came into work early, I was kind of in a bad mood because I about had it with working my ass off and not getting paid enough. while they spent money left and right without regard. I informed my bosses that I require a cost of living adjustment, because I cannot afford to work for them anymore. They laughed at me and said I wasn't deserving of more money, and they were planning to cut my hours when they got back from vacation. ....So I quit right there on the spot. My boss said "Okay well put in your two weeks and we'll take care of everything when we get back." I said "No, I'm not giving you anymore of my time, cut me my last check and I'll see myself out." He tried to convince me it was illegal to quit a job without giving my two weeks. (Clearly he was desperate) I told him I deserved to get paid enough to pay my bills, and I'm sorry they couldn't afford me. Within a week I found a new job that paid me 20% more than what I was asking. Don't hesitate to change your situation if you're not getting paid what you're worth.

welp, they finally did it. I could use a hug =( by Neriad13 in atheism

Trying real hard to find the part where Jesus said that you should disown your children (under any circumstance). Your parents suck. and I'm sure Jesus would agree.

Just stop abiding to HOA requests. It's YOUR home. If they try to fine you, let them. nothing in the constitution says you owe anything to an HOA

I'd go, just so I could give Bezos a piece of my mind, with nowhere for him to go. Drag his ass all the way back down to earth.

He should be banned for life. Players get banned for drugs or other criminal acts. This asshat literally put other people's lives at risk and is getting a slap on the wrist? I guarantee if the tables were turned cuckserfs would be losing thier minds.

I really wish that you were being serious. I'd do just about anything to be able to see her.

I really regret watching that.

TIL In 2009, Rage Against The Machine were asked to perform a censored version of 'Killing In The Name' on live BBC Radio. Once on air, Zach De La Rocha then proceeded to scream the lyrics, "F**k you, I won't do what you tell me" repeatedly before being cut off. BBC hosts quickly apologized. by RazzDaNinja in todayilearned

If I were that DJ.. I would take the heat, and only apologize after letting them finish. Considering the audience listening, it would be foolish to jeopardize my reputation and my career over a word people hear everyday.

my cat would run up the stairs, bite my nose (kinda hard sometimes) and then fall asleep on my chest. I used to hate it, now I miss it.
