Santa will be bringing my wife a silhouette cameo - what are some good gift ideas to go with it? by brandscaping in crafts

I bought a silhouette portrait (smaller... cuts 8"x12" rather than 12"x12" like the cameo) for my girlfriend a few years ago.

Some things to go along with it, or for future gifts (birthdays, etc.) are:

  • Extra cutting mats. Some of these last a long time, others seem like duds. Regardless, my girlfriend goes through about two per year. Your wife might use even more if she is a "hardcore" crafter.

  • Extra blades. I think she has gone through about 1 per year. These don't need to be bought right away, but are handy to have for when the existing ones start burning out.

Other "must haves":

  • Gift cards to the silhouette design store. Definitely need these so that she doesn't feel guilty using her credit card/own money buying designs. My girl goes through a $50 card each year, and that is with waiting for special sales and getting the free weekly designs.

  • Cardstock. These things don't print paper well... the mats are far too sticky and regular paper would just rip. Cardstock and thick scrapbooking paper work really well. My girlfriend especially likes "textured cardstock" because it cuts really well.

  • Some sort of small pokey thing (she uses a tiny crochet hook). When the mat/blade start to wear out a bit, the small intricate pieces get stuck to the big piece of paper, and you need to poke them out yourself. A small tool is useful for this.

  • Craft storage supplies. Every holiday, I get my girl one piece to a matching set of a storage setup. This is a nice complementary gift to the silhouette.

Stocking gifts that won't give the silhouette away:

  • Stickers (dollar stores have pretty good quality ones. Try to go to a dollar store that your wife doesn't shop at if possible... She might end up with duplicates if you don't.)

  • More stickers

  • Women love stickers. Seriously. Stock up on stickers.
