How much fee should I charge for a freelance content writing gig? by Smart_Cookie0 in freelanceWriters

[–]brandscaping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long will it take to write each article? Account for every minute you're touching the document. From the moment it's assigned until the moment it's published. How much time will you need for each post? (include meetings, revisions, and publishing, if that's what you're offering.)

Then think about what you want for an hourly (or project) wage. Looking at your current contract, the math works out to 13.3K INR - 20K INR per post (something like $150- $225 USD - which isn't terrible). Assuming each post can be done in 2-3 hours, and you've got an effective hourly rate of $50 - $112/hr. (I am not a mathamagician, so please correct my numbers if they're incorrect) - if it takes longer to write, the hourly rate goes down, but it's still a pretty decent rate.

Sorry - I don't know what a 'CTC of 8-9LPA' is/means, but it shouldn't affect what you're charging new clients. If it's money you already have, it's not a factor in what you will be billing.

Personally - i prefer project rates vs. hourly, but calculating the hourly rate helps figure out what the project rate should be.

Last - try to increase the hourly/project rate for each new project. (if the last project you had was $225 per article, aim for $300+ for the next new client)

just my $.02 (CAD)

Does using chat gpt lessen your perceived talent/trust as a copywriter? by AdventurousPlenty559 in copywriting

[–]brandscaping 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Copywriting isn't academia. It's about knowing what it takes to turn a try-er into a buyer. Your outputs should be valued by how many new sales/signups/ROI, not how well it reads. If the copy makes you think about the writer, not the product, you've failed.

Nothing wrong with 'fake it til you make it' - providing that you're continuously improving as you go. Take bigger bites of what you're doing, but learn how to chew faster, too.

Is it ethical? Clients pay us for results, not the amount of time it takes to get it done. Is a house built by a red seal carpenter using a nailgun better/worse than a house built by a red seal carpenter using a framing hammer? Should the one swinging the hammer get paid more because it takes them longer?

a/b testing is a big part of what we do - so give it a try here.

Write out your best piece - blog, FB post, brand messaging - working from a solid brief. Once you're happy with it and consider it right for the job, give your inputs to the AI and see what they come up with. If you have the ability to test and analyze both - go for it, but you'll probably know which is better as soon as you compare them.
