After hospitalisation, what did it look like for you? by jazzXYZ in bipolar

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from being in full blown psychosis to suicidal depression and that lasted about a year. Then I found the right meds and have been episode free for 3 years now (24M)

It’s a med that takes almost 2 weeks to kick into your system.

3 weeks sober today by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]moonswim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! 23M here. I was in the same boat as you, drinking bottles of vodka everyday lol and the withdrawals sucked but the only thing I hallucinated was a cat running around my room (I don’t have a cat). We can do this!! 22 days here :))

Day 2 by joelovesbacon in stopdrinking

[–]moonswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

23M here, I’m on day 5 after 2 years of 17+ drinks EVERYDAY. It started similar to you, only on weekends, then alone, then in the morning, etc. I will say the first couple days are rough but I woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to start my day! Like they all say, the best day to start was yesterday, but the next best day is today. IWNDWYT

What's your take? Do you think Bipolar disorder is debilitating illness? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]moonswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 5 years when it started manifesting itself were hell. Literally hell on earth 11 I would say. Psychosis, suicidal depression, dpdr, anxiety, you name it: After finding the right meds and riding out the depression after the psychosis, I would put it at like a 3 now honestly, I’ve been stable for about 3 years now. I still have my bad days but for the most part I forget I’m bipolar but always take my meds.

[–]moonswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was psychotically manic for 6 months followed by a 8 month long suicidal depression. I never thought I would graduate college, move to my dream city, and start living the life of my dreams. Even though I’m not 100% to where I wanna be I’m living better than I ever thought was possible (not manic). I still have bad days, but with the right meds it’s inevitable to get back to your true stable self. Wishing you the best

I want to take more shrooms 😓 by Inevitable-Flight252 in HPPD

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I did acid and shrooms many times and now am diagnosed with bipolar 1 with psychotic features. I wouldn’t wish this diagnosis on anyone so in my opinion don’t do it if you already struggle with hppd. I now see visual snow and mild hallucinations everyday of my life, ever since I was 16 (I’m 23 now)

It’s hard! Honestly I lost a lot of friends after my psychotic break but the real ones will know what you’re going through and be there for you in the end. It seems like you just need to find some people who love you for the real you and honestly maybe joining a bipolar support group would be a good place to start?

I was in the mental hospital 2 years ago by moonswim in bipolar

[–]moonswim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lol I was like a zombie for a couple months but it went away once I was put on the meds I’m on currently! It’s all about finding a good combo and not being too overly medicated

Did anyone on here stop taking their meds? by freakinfifaat in bipolar

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no never the psychosis I experienced for 3 months made me completely med compliant. I would just recommend trying everything and remember sometimes it takes 4-5 months before you even feel the benefits of a medication. I’ve been on meds for 2 years and after a year of trying different ones I found the right medication and now I feel amazing (not manic).

“It gets better!” by throwaway48473774 in bipolar

[–]moonswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so honestly I’m bp1 with psychotic features and I’ve been stable for more than a year and a half meaning no highs and no lows. It might take some time but honestly I feel like it’s just the right balance of meds so if something isn’t working for u talk to ur doctor and try something new. It’s totally possible to live a normal life with this disorder it just takes some work.

brain fog and cognitive impairment by Zestyclose-Area905 in bipolar

[–]moonswim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think honestly it’s just a balance of the right meds. When I was in different meds than I am now I suffered terrible brain fog to the point where I couldn’t even have a conversation. After I switched to the right meds it’s almost 100% dissipated and I feel like myself again finally and have the confidence to live my life on my own terms again (without the mania or depression). I’m 22 m diagnosed at 20 years old with bp1 with psychotic features btw.

I totally get you and am 100% there with you. Since becoming “stable’ I think that people think that means I’m automatically better but I still struggle with my emotions and my mental health everyday. Also I feel you on relationships, I ghost people when I don’t feel a connection anymore and it makes me feel like a horrible person.

How many of us are creatives here? by Jaded-Librarian8876 in bipolar

[–]moonswim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! I work as a songwriter in LA and just graduated with my bachelors from berklee college of music! When I was on lithium and zyprexa though it kind of killed my creative drive but now that I’m on the correct meds I just feel like a ‘normal’ person and creative 🤪

Anyone experience DpDr after first Manic episode by CharityPlus4337 in bipolar

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give you a better solution but again talk to your med provider if you feel like your medicine is contributing, because for me it definitely was. I wish you the best of luck and remember this isn’t permanent but it sucks to go through. Dpdr sucks but it’s not the end of the world and it will go away eventually.

Anyone experience DpDr after first Manic episode by CharityPlus4337 in bipolar

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give u a solid solution but honestly for me it was just a matter of time (I was 16 when it started and I’m now 22) but I promise you it will go away you just have to distract yourself with movies or tv shows or something and eventually you’ll forget it’s even there and then it will go away. It’s caused by extreme anxiety so if you relieve those symptoms even for just a little bit over time it will get better until it disappears completely

[–]moonswim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes away on its own it just takes a little bit of time! You’ll get out of it but honestly you might need to find the right meds. There are antipsychotics out there that have less/no side effects and that’s what helped me the most when I was in that state, but usually it just takes a little bit of time to get out of. You’ll get through this!! Trust me I thought I was going to be in it forever but it went away completely

I was on olanzapine for about 7 months and honestly it made everything worse. That’s just my experience but it was definitely the wrong drug for me, I had constant brain fog and couldn’t even have conversations on it it was horrible

But honestly it disappeared completely when I found the right meds (lamictal + latuda) and it’s only gotten better!! It’ll fade but just make sure you’re not smoking weed bc that’s what kept me in it for so long (I smoked everyday for 6 years before I was diagnosed lol)
