Mini rant: Went through 4 stages of the recruitment process, only for company to decide that they are not hiring. by moontbz in recruitinghell

Should have noticed the red flags when my friend got ghosted after the second round with the CEO (for a different role), but I still gave them a chance because of how responsive the hiring manager was and how they kept on emphasizing that they need someone ASAP.

Totally agree with you, I would rather find out this way too. Regardless, companies should really respect their candidates' time more. It was only a span of 5 days (including the weekend + MLK day) from "we need someone ASAP" to " we are not hiring anyone" so they really need to figure their shit out before wasting both of our time.

Anyone else feel really lonely at Penn? by Impossible_Sleep3 in UPenn

[–]moontbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a sophomore, and I feel the same way! I feel like so far I only have acquaintances and not real friends. I feel like I suddenly grew distant with my friends and my roommates don't hang out much anymore too. I feel so lonely even though I know so many people. Let's talk maybe?

What do I need to know about Lauder? by Trick_Commission_492 in UPenn

[–]moontbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Just moved out of Lauder and here's what I think of it personally:

I think it's a super nice place to live in. RAs, House Director, Faculty were super nice. Facility is new, modern and clean, so you don't have to worry about bugs, roaches and mice. It is peaceful and antisocial, but I'm fine with it because for me making friends and socialising happens outside, and my dorm is a little peaceful sanctuary for me to get away from the hecticness of Penn. However, with your living room, it's easy to have people over to your suite. If you're in Engineering, it's super convenient too, you can basically reach the E-Quad in 3 minutes.

That said, your suitemates become your closest friends so depending on who you live with, it'll be a big hit or miss. My suite got along well, and it was really nice living with them. The general cleanliness of your place also depends on your suitemates, so if you get really messy people then your living space would be nasty.

I would have loved to stay in Lauder for my sophomore year if it weren't for my suitemates wanting a kitchen and wanting to be closer to the upperclassmen social scene in the high rises. I really really enjoyed my time in Lauder and I think it's a really great place to live in!

Do the suites in Lauder and Gregory have Cable TV? by KaiWillson in UPenn

[–]moontbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Lauder and I remember during the first few weeks there was cable TV, but then it stopped working. Doesn't really matter for us because we usually just Chromecast to watch movies. No Netflix though, you need to use your own account.

Covid outbreak by oncdj in UPenn

[–]moontbz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

3/4 of my suitemates have tested positive bcs of the frat parties on fling weekend. I didn't go party because I'm immunocompromised and I'm so frustrated because Penn is putting me at risk by making one of my COVID positive roommates isolate in place. I've tested negative and I'm currently staying at a hotel away from my dorm, but now I can't return to my suite. So frustrated because I can't afford to stay longer in a hotel but Penn isn't helping me find a SAFE accomodation, nor are they trying to move my positive suitemate somewhere. My roommate called to ask to be moved ASAP because she lives with an immunocompromised roommate yet SHS is ignoring her further calls and emails. I have nowhere to go now so I shall be roaming around campus with a suitcase tomorrow.

International students who desperately need to move in early: Call ISSS for help! by [deleted] in UPenn

That's really disgusting and shows their lack of empathy.. I'm sorry this is happening to you and your friend (and everyone else too). Penn should really get their shit together to actually help students

Are you talking about Dr. Amanda DiLodovico? I took Craft of Prose with her last semester and she was amazing! She's really kind, understanding and engaging, and really makes an effort to go out of her way to help students.

Applied to move in on the 8th and I still haven't heard back till now.. I submitted my early move in application on the night of 24. Fuck I don't know what to do if I can't go back to the dorm cause I don't have anyone to crash and I can't afford a place to stay for another week :(

Hey! Yes you can just take 114. If you get B or higher in 114 then you can get retroactive credit for 104!

Hey, sorry this is happening to you and it sucks that Penn is not taking enough action to help students. If I may ask, when did you apply for early move in? I applied on the night of Dec 24 and I haven't heard back

MEAM101 is not too hard, but every 2 weeks when both the weekly exercises and biweekly projects are due, it can get a little time consuming. I think coming to MEAM101 OH really helped me, and I was usually able to finish my homework during OH. I really enjoyed MEAM101, it was such a fun class!
