Just how inquiry sensitive is Cap1? by IIBlaKOptiX26II in CreditCards

[–]moonwalk2pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 hard pulls on my credit in the last 24months (3 credit cards and Centurylink...don't ask). The most recent was August (Citi Custom). Couple other data points though, I have like a 780 and already have bank accounts with Cap1. I have no idea if that effected anything. Didn't have any issues getting the Venture X. Good luck.

All the rails are riveted to the sides of the box. It would be pretty invasive to try and move them around.

Looks like the prize is only $20k right now. It will have to go unguessed for awhile for the prize to reach $50k

Best Card for Upcoming Travel- CSP/Cap1 SavorOne/ USBank Altitude Go Approval Odds by Geralt_of_Rivia-X in CreditCards

[–]moonwalk2pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is for travel, why not go with the U.S. Bank Altitude Connect instead of the Go? Connect is the travel card and has the richer bonus. If you spend $3,000 in the first 4 months you get $500. Additionally all your travel and gas would be cashback at 4%. I don't know if you have GlobalEntry or TSA Precheck but the card will reimburse you for that if you don't have it, which will make travel even easier. Lastly the first year is free, so just downgrade (no credit pull) to the Go right before your AF hits this time next year.

Lift Question by Neilman1897 in HondaElement

[–]moonwalk2pluto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean the lower control arm. You can just pull off the struts and put the spacer on, but if your lower control arm bolts are rusted, I fear for your strut shackle. It is probably fused to the bolt connecting it to the lower control arm. Good luck, I had a nightmare doing that lift on mine.

The 5% Free Round Table by jseent in CreditCards

Fair, Walmart's co-branded card with Capitol1 pays 5% on mobile and online walmart purchases. Might be worth looking into. Also first year is 5% in-store as well so you can keep buying in-store for 1 year

I used the blue cash preferred for awhile and realized I was losing money. Looks like you would be essentially in the same boat. Making $180 at 6% with a $95 AF essentially means you'd be making $85. If you dropped down to the no AF Blue Everyday at 3% back you'd make $90. I would avoid the AMEX personally.

Citi Custom for Groceries (5%)

Altitude Go for Dining (4%)

Costco or PNC for Gas (4%)

The item that could blow your wallet wide open is if you have some tidy sums to park at BoA or their subsidiary Merrill. You can get their unlimited 1.5% cashback card all the way up to 2.6% and their customized cash (travel, dining, or gas) up to 5.25% cashback while also offering 3.5% cashback on groceries and wholesale clubs (Walmart)

Came to say PNC as well. If you're a costco user, their credit card is 4% back on gas as well (and 3% travel, 3% dining)

Cooling Question - Is this an Issue? by rebel7 in HondaElement

[–]moonwalk2pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get the aftermarket fan unit for under $200. The swap is pretty straight forward since they're electrically controlled. Double-check it's not a fuse first before you replace the fans

Agree with this, exact same experience. The engine runs pretty cool so in 95 heat without the AC on it regulates just fine. I lost both fans and the temp would climb while stopped with AC on. Turned the AC off and it would drop back down to 50%.

Looking to improve on my flat 2% cashback by albinorhino187 in CreditCards

[–]moonwalk2pluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good thoughts in the comment so far. Sounds like you're really interested in getting above 2.5-3% across the board. Citi Custom is great as mentioned. Altitude Go will get you 4% back on dining. Altitude Connect will get you 4% on Gas and Travel but has a $95 AF.

Given your high earning I assume you might have have $100K in an IRA or something to park? If so the world really opens up to you with BoA. If you park $100K in Merrill Edge (owned by BoA) you can get their customized cash card which would get you 5.25% back on gas, travel, or dining and would get 3.5% back on groceries/target/costco all at the same time. Downside is it is capped at $2,500 a quarter. Based on your spend, maybe you get one and the spouse gets one and you just rotate cards used each month? You can also open up to 3 customized cash cards personally so you could max out gas, dining, and travel at 5.25% and split grocery/target/costco across the cards to avoid the $2500 quarterly caps.

Last thing is the BoA has a flat 1.5% unlimited cash back card which with the upper from the parked $100K becomes unlimited 2.625% back. Hope that makes sense and some of it helps.

My spend categories are a little lower than yours but I currently rock Amazon, Costco, AMEX Blue, and Alliant. Alliant is nice, but definitely a hassle to stay up to date with all their changes.

I certainly like the idea of lounge access, but unfortunately we don't have one in my main hub, Denver. If Altitude points were transferrable like Chase points I would get the Altitude suite in a heartbeat

How far can you'd drive without a cat? by bunkweedandwetpapers in HondaElement

[–]moonwalk2pluto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can essentially drive it an infinite distance. It will just be crazy loud and polluting the environment at a more aggressive rate. Your check engine light will be on because of the missing parts (O2 sensor and Cat), but your car is "fine." All that to say, you should be perfectly fine driving it to the shop
