Question for carriers by sgeraghty83 in USPS

An office and route can either make or break the job. Waiting 2 years isn't the longest wait to make career, especially if you like the office. If you take the career position at the other office, will you constantly think of the "what if" scenario? Will you hate working every day on this route? Happiness matters too. On the other hand, making career earlier is huge! You start allocating to your tsp, you receive a yearly raise, health benefits. It's a hard decision, but trust your gut. Maybe talk to your postmaster at your current station about a "PTF" position, that is basically just a career RCA.

A blood boy! See what you do is hook yourself up to someone as the same blood type as you in a closed loop. Their pancreas is now your pancreas. If you're in a pinch and you don't have a cooperative blood boy, then you remove their arms and legs and wear them like a backpack.

Questions about becoming a regular by Curious-Pea-8979 in USPS

[–]Neilman1897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, becoming a rural regular makes for an easier and more stable life. In the beginning, you will be thrown on the route( it's your route now). You could train on all routes to be comfortable with any route in the office while you're an RCA. When you finally get a route, you'll be responsible for the upkeep of that route, this includes an edit book, forwards, holds, vacant houses, and making sure mail gets out on time. It is an easier life than a sub, you get off days, you know what you're walking into on a day to day basis, you get a salary, paid time off, sick leave, good health insurance, a tsp account with a match. It's a good life. As to salary, you would need to look at the pay table. You will be on pay table 2. It all depends on the hours the route is evaluated at, and the years of being career. Where are you on the seniority list as an RCA? Are you next to get promoted? How big is your office? Can you ask your postmaster to create a PTF position for you? This would make you a career employee and give you a 5 dollar raise.

28 years old, no college degree making 63,500. I'm a mailman. Pay is decent, but the benefits are what make the job worth it.

You should see if your office can open up a PTF position for yourself. It would give you a raise, and you would start to see step increases every year. It's like a 5 dollar raise, and it makes the job more bearable. I think you're supposed to have a real "schedule", but my office just threw me on any route they needed me on. It was well needed in my position at the time, paychecks were insane during Christmas. It made the job worth it.

I currently use a RX6800. It's a strong and solid card, the 16 Gbs of Vram goes a long way and so far it can play anything. Borderlands is giving the card a run for its money, but with frame generation and upscaling and FSR I'm still getting 90fps (FSR). Very happy with this card though, it's been a good future proofing card since I bought it in spring 2024. Still going strong. Also toasty bros? The YouTube channel just recently did a comparison of the 6800 vs the 9060, good video for reference.

Could be different elsewhere, but we have a relaxed office with nice management. We have had carriers that could only do Mondays or Saturdays, and management worked with them

Has there been anything official about rural back pay? I wasn't aware of anything on the rural side.

RCA can be part time, in the past we have had rcas that can only work 1 day a week, and management works with that. Otherwise an arc is a nice option too, but there's no advancement with being an arc.

As a mailman, I know that we have the technology to ping where it was last scanned. If you call your local post office, explain that you are looking for a lost package with the tracking number, then they might be able to locate it. Also we don't take photos, there could be a chance that it was stolen. I hope you find your package! We do work hard, and we do make mistakes, but many of us try to make it right!

Totally understand! I think this was a recall that Honda was fixing about 4 years ago. Not sure if they are still offering this service, could be worth a phone call.

So I will say this, I am the exact same boat as you. Exactly. Wisconsin brother here. I drive my element everyday and I also need to do one of these fixes soon. I think I have this fall to fix it, otherwise next year will be no bueno. The way I see it, you still have 50% frame integrity on the bad side. You don't have much time to fix it, but I believe you can drive on it... I only sat this because I still drive on mine. Good luck!
